I would suggest a product called Plasteak. Due to the maintenance issues associated with teak, I have changed almost all the exterior teak on our boat to Plasteak. I have some pieces that have been there for 5 years, and it looks as good as the day I put it on. It is not as strong as teak and would need closer spacing of stringers on the bottom.

I agree that Teak is somewhat subject to environmental issues, but they are mainly sun issues which do not exist in the shower.

Aesthetically, teak is my first choice. I've opted for choice #2 however, which is a $3.99 squeegee from Walmart. Takes about 20 seconds to dry our bathroom floor.

After doing some research, Reace has determined that he can install the
Thetford Aqua Magic V, Lo Profile Foot Flush (as suggested by Steve) for an additional $60. We're going to order from PPL and have it drop shipped to Escape for installation in our 19'. Thanks for the great suggestion Steve (although, Reace probably wishes we'd lay off the forums for a while ... ha!)

I would be careful the foot flush does not extend out into the shower to where you would kick it while taking a shower. We don't have our trailer yet but from the pictures I am looking at it might. It may just be the angle of the picture. I'm good at doing things like that.

I think I'd rather bend over and use the hand lever than balance on one foot and raise the other to use the foot lever. It would be different if you could rest the heel of your "flushing foot" on the floor, but you can't as the toilet is raised.
See pic in Post #1.

I'm sure it's a matter of personal preference -- putting your hand on the wall and lifting one foot to work the pedal or leaning over a bowl of "stuff" to reach the lever. (Looking at the photo of the toilet on the 21' page, I can't even tell where the lever is in the back of the toilet so not sure how far one has to lean.) Steve's comment about trying to pour water in the bowl while holding up the lid and work the lever for cleaning seemed less complicated. Will have to think about both options.

You would not lean over a bowl of "stuff" if you are sitting on it. Also easier for the wife and if she is happy, I am happy.

One other thing this video shows, how much taller the foot flush is as opposed to the hand flush. Something for short people to think about ....

According to the Thetford site both styles are available in high and low profiles, and the heights are identical in each case.
We had a Casita with the foot flush and preferred it to the hand flush in my brother's camper. BUT in the Casita the toilet was set back from the front edge of the tank a few inches and on the Escape it appears to be right at the edge of the tank. So we will stick with the hand flush for our new 19.

My tip of the day: for flushing of the inside of the black tank, take a Wet Wipes or Lysol wipes container, open the flush lever and insert the wipes container between the handle and the toilet. It holds the lever in the open position while you spray the inside of the black tank.
With the foot lever, you'll have to hold it open with your foot, while using one hand to balance and the other to operate the wand.

Having never sat on my toilet, what is the general consensus on the height issue, high or low?

I, too, would prefer the foot flush, but I found somewhere a device that looks like a 6-inch piece of 2-inch PVC with wings on the side that drops into the toilet and keeps the valve open while I spray the inside of the tank.

I read somewhere that you can damage the seals by using an object to hold the trap open.
