I believe the is a piece of solid wood along the edge maybe 2" wide. Thus I was able to hit that with the mounting screw. Anything further away will hit hollow space.

Thanks for the input Greg and Jim. I finally got up the courage to make my first mod which included gluing and screwing a half-inch board inside the cabinet. I was able to hit the end 2-inch strip you talked about Jim. Then I screwed the Kamenstein through the cabinet floor into this board. I think the rear screw goes through the back 2-inch strip in the cabinet floor, and the front screw only goes through the two facing pieces of the cabinet floor but both end up in the backer board and it seems really solid.

That is exactly the way I installed mine. Works great.
