Black Tank Vent

I bought a new siphon type vent for the black tank. When I removed the cap this is what I found. I assumed there was a rigid pipe, but what I found was this flex tube.
Has anyone seen this before? I'd like to get an idea of what is under the foam before I start digging it out.

Black Tank Vent

Our 2017 E19 has a black 2”PVC pipe that I retrofitted the same siphon vent cap to (love it!), so the flex tube must be something new?

My 2014-19 has the same hose for the grey tank. So it's use isn't totally new.

Ron,
Do you happen to know what the flex hose is attached to?

The tube could be connected to the top center back position of the black tank. The rear bathroom wall on the left cuts in, so the tube could run up the wall and turn towards the vent. A flexible tube allows for more possibilities and is easier to install. The foam could have been inserted just in the vent top to keep moisture and bugs from entering. If you remove the vent, there might not be much foam inside the shell, unless they used the foam to secure the pipe and keep it from moving.

Same here for my 2017 21. Its also either has a leak in the run through the closet, or the opening at the top isn't completely sealed. I've had two occasions where dumping a gallon or to from the shower floor or sink will make the closet (and in the worst case, the entire trailer stink. A dose of gray or black tank additive eventually solves the problem.

Now that I'm home, I probably should crawl up on the roof & check it out...
