Cabinet Door Garbage Can

Wanting a convenient place for garbage in the trailer, I located a plastic garbage can at Canadian Tire that fits inside the cabinet underneath the sink. However, after a couple of times of trying to access the can inside the cabinet I thought I'd attempt to mount it to the door.

Initially, I just used a scrap piece of oak flooring mounted to the cabinet door's perimeter. However, the plastic can sagged as items were added so I added a raised backing to support the can and now I can open the door, flip up the lid, and deposit my trash!

Re: Cabinet Door Garbage Can

Wow, I posted on this thread yesterday, yet it is not here. Weird.

Anyhoo, that is the very garbage can I ended up using too. I wanted something that was short enough to fit on the door under our bed. This unit is of moderate quality, but it works just fine and cost just over $10 (can't remember the exact cost). I mounted it to the top rail of the door, and had to extended the slots in the plastic mounting part in order for it to drop low enough to clear the top of the opening. We really like getting the garbage out of the way, and the galley cupboards are free for pots and stuff now.

We just use a small white garbage bag, or a shopping bag in it.

Great minds do think alike. We've the same can. Not too big, not too small. I think it was $4.99 at Canadian Tire.

I place it on a hook that hangs on the door under the sink when in active use, and under the bed when it's not needed. That way it is handy while doing kitchen prep.
