While easier to add to the inside of standard LED fixtures, I have taped frosts over the front of my Captain's Lights which makes them more comfortable for reading. You can buy sheets of RoacoLux at serious photo supply & theatrical supply stores, or on line from Amazon, etc. If you go to a theatrical supply, you may be able to talk them into a free "Swatch" book, a 2"X3" book of camel colors.

Jon,
I’d like to try using the Roscolux film on some of the overhead lights in my 2018 17b. I find those lights to be too harsh. Can you tell me how I would remove the lights in order to add the film? Also, what color and light diffusing level do you recommend for a softer, but natural light?
I don’t want to start messing with the lights without having some idea of what I’m doing. Thanks in advance.

if those are the same fixtures as my 2014 E21 has, I slid the clear lens cover off, and cut some red Rubylith film to nicely fit on the inside of the lens, then replaced the lens, to make one of them red for star parties, you could do the same with some frosted gel material to diffuse the light.....

I later replaced this with an amber/yellow LED to use as a night light. the other half of that fixture still has the original white light, so if I switch it on 'both', then its plenty brigth white.
