Captain Reading Lights

Came across these LED Captain style reading lights and thought I would try them out. One push of the button turns on the soft blue light and the second push turns on the reading light.

Not saying anything wrong with the stock lights, but felt these would go better with my interior decor and I like the idea of soft blue light. After installing I find they take up less space as well.

Nice. Did you replace your captains lights, or use a wire drop?

Looks great. I take that is US $.
There are some great RV lights available which is perfect for anyone that did not get them installed at the factory.
I installed a blue LED in each of mine and it is worth the little extra if you are purchasing.

Why blue?
I know red helps with night vision, but what does blue do for you?

Yes, I replaced the factory captain lights.

Blue does nothing for me, the lights just come with the blue light.

Great...now I can blame my evening eating on the lights.

I donno. There is a study result to satisfy every appetite.
I recall from my design editor days that blue food was unappetizing, so I Googled and found this site near the top:
https://www.colormatters.com/color-a...petite-matters

Of all the colors in the spectrum, blue is an appetite suppressant. Weight loss plans suggest putting your food on a blue plate. Or even better than that, put a blue light in your refrigerator and watch your munchies disappear. Or here's another tip: Dye your food blue! A little black will make it a double whammy.

I changed the bathroom light out as it was just too screaming bright in there for middle of the night trips, leaving me blinded when I came out. The new one has both red and white lights, the white being bright when needed and the red is great for nighttime, leaving me with night vision when I leave the bathroom to head back to bed.

I bought it off eBay. I found the link in an email but it is now dead. Here is a screen shot of it though.

It has a two way switch on the side to choose which colour you want.

I put a motion activated night light under the sink for the same reason, a lot more dim then the wall mount. Does eat a set of batteries every year. Stays on long enough to get back up the stairs.

I will be installing a red led inside the o/h that will stay on, minimal draw and simple.

I purchased a dusk to dawn LED light. It plugs in under the flip up extension on the kitchen counter. The flip up actually blocks about half of the lights, but still provides plenty of light to see the stairs at night, doesn't bother my night vision AND I can leave the bathroom door open, it lights up in there 'good enough' too. It really came in handy this year during the Big Trip because my travel mate who wasn't totally familiar with the layout in the trailer, didn't need to turn on any lights to see her way around during those late night excursions.

I bought the light 11/22/15 and it's never been unplugged. Going strong and it was cheap!

We had Escape install dual fixtures in our bath, then I put high temp red photo gel in one. Much better for middle of the night trips than the blinding primary light.Click image for larger version

Strange that bedside lights use blue light when it's the color that disrupts sleep the most as it suppresses the production of melatonin. Red makes more sense but has that 'red light district' connotation.

Would not this red light connotation bode well for role playing in said location? [emoji16]
