One minor thing I've never liked about the hinges used on the dinette benches, is that they're surface mounted on the side the cushions touch. The fabric could eventually wear or tear on the hinge.
So, I've been searching for some sort of concealed hinge to replace them - one that is mounted on the underside, that allows for at least 100 degrees of open angle, is sturdy, and provides a smooth bench top with no visible hardware. They are not easy to find, but I was able to locate a source called Guden. Here's an animation of how they work. I'll post follow up photos once I've had a chance to install them.
Of course, the GIF is upside down from how they'll be installed - opening upward, hinges concealed underneath.
