Cot/Bunk in a 21' ?

Hi Guys,

Has anyone rigged a 21' with a cot/bunk comparable to what is offered on the 19' ?

Any pointers would be appreciated by me and especially our young son.

Appreciate it.

Thank you.

At the moment it is not an option in the 21. The 19 has high windows in the dinette to allow for the cot option - lots of discussion about that (one of the reasons we got the 21). When our 2 grandkids come with us we put the dinette table down and it makes a great bed with plenty of room for both of them. (They are 10 and 11). We have a feeling this might be the last year for that and next year they will want to be in a tent. Do you have a trailer yet? If you truly want the cot/bunk go for the 19. It's all good.

Agree with Kathie. We looked at the 21 and asked Tammy about the cot option. It was not available on the 21 and only the 19 for the reasons listed above. We went with the 19 to provide sleeping for at least two "Grands" between the cot and dinette.

Hi Kathie & JStelly,

Thank you for the insight/rationale on the cot/bunk option.

We have not seen a 21' yet, hopefully in the Fall, but have one on order.

Anyway, it sounds like the lower windows in the 21' == lower mounting brackets for a cot == a squashed/narrow lower Queen/Dinette sleeping area.

Not good.

Thanks for the explanation, though, it helps a lot.

Given all the tinkering folks do to their rigs I see on this forum, I'm surprised no one has tackled this one.

Appreciate it.

Has anyone created a custom bunk/cot/hammock in any Escape trailer that was not originally outfitted with one?

We'll probably be on the hunt for a trailer with such accomodations (per the wife's wishes), but it isn't a common option, and finding a used trailer is a difficult enough experience.

I'd have no problem ordering a 17b or 19 with that option, but waiting a year doesn't jive with our schedule.
