I know of very few people who have installed any sort of mini split, and hadn't heard of Recpro before, so it's pretty unlikely you will get a specific answer.

With your trailer being 140 sq ft, both of those seem too big.

I can't say I've experienced an AC that "spit" wet air before, maybe it's drain line is blocked or improperly installed. But then I've not seen a "Primetime Tracer" before either, and I've looked at a lot of RVs.

Recpro is the dealer who sells the Houghton brand of aftermarket Ac's. Most of the retrofits, other than the mini split installs have been Houghtons

RecPro appears to be a major RV industry supplier. RecPro website: https://www.recpro.com.

Agree John it appears both would be over sized. My trailer volume is pretty close to a 5.0 TA or the Escape 21. But when the spec says "up to" does it mean it will adjust itself like a mini split to the current heat load.

The current AC does not "spit" John. It simply makes cold clammy air because It only dehumidifies when the compressor is running. The recirc fan running continuously blows air across the wet evaporator coil causing the humidity to rebound. The condensate drain pan and drain are clean and clear. Condensate does drain and run off the roof.

Dave, about got the mini split installed, thanks again for thinking outside the box and giving us more options for heat and air, and answering my questions. Your dedication to this forum is invaluable.
All the inside work is done , should get time next week to mount the outdoor unit and fire
her up.

Good on ya for posting the numbered step-by-step process for posting photos.

I'm a little surprised by how many folks do have a problem posting them.

A lot of times "a photo is worth......."

I am actually eyeing either the Zero Breeze or the new Ecoflow unit, both with attached lithium batteries and rechargeable with solar. Not cheap, but either could be a great solution for AC while boondocking.

Be sure to do your research and don't be fooled by the hype.

They're not blatant scams per se, since they do have a 'product'. But they're scams in the sense that they exaggerate their product's capabilities, and have used crowd funding to ripoff the unsuspecting. Beware.

All done with the install, just waiting for my AC guy to come vacuum and pressure test. Pretty much copied Jake’s install done by Dave.
Again, thanks Dave for supplying info and answering questions along the way.

Nice work Dan! Thanks for including some photos. Enjoy your whisper quiet A/C!

(I highly recommend a small ratchet strap around the outdoor unit when traveling. Takes a lot of the stress off the mounting points and is cheap insurance)

Geeez, as soon as I get the Fujitsu mini split installed this comes along!

https://www.pioneerminisplit.com/pro...ir-conditioner

Very low SEER rating but it might be worth checking out, I’m happy with what I got but this might be a viable option.

Looks interesting. I wish they offered it as DC-powered though

Let me critique this unit if I may...
Drawbacks vs mini-split:
-No inverter compressor
-Requires considerable concealed area to mount taking up valuable storage space (limited mounting options even in the larger Escapes)
-Requires two big holes in floor for condenser intake/exhaust and proper protection of those openings
-Requires opening to living space for return air path
-Less efficient
-Need to deal with supply air ducting which is problematic in an Escape (also not included in purchase price)
-Compressor inside which will increase noise level (although the listed noise level as 40 db(A) which is fairly quiet)
-Requires separate 12V DC wiring from trailer battery for control power
-Requires a wired wall controller even if you want to use remote

Advantages:
-Don't need to mount a condensing unit on the exterior and deal with refrigerant lines in between it and indoor unit
-Don't need to get 120V AC power to outside unit

IMO you are still way ahead with a mini-split

All good points Dave, without it being an inverter you’ll feel every time the compressor kicks on!

I do note that Panasonic unit is also a heat pump, it can create nearly as many BTUs of heat as it can of cold... But at around 1000 watts either way, not much use for offgrid
