Custom Generator box on 21 ft

I built this box with 1/8" aluminum, with pull out tray. Removed rear tire (tongue weight stayed equal with change out).

Very nice, and good place for some ballast.

You may run afoul of the authorities with the blocked tag, perhaps if you turned the generator? Also you may want to update your avatar now that you are an owner.

Gosh, you’ve got sharp eyes for a 73 year old geezer. The inverterator thingamajig is the culprit, but the whole combined cargo load is somewhat left of center. (According to my geezer eyes takin’ a second glance on the cargo scenario). If the box and generator are meant to be together, then both should be slid rightward.

I’m definitely going to look into a rear rack box though.

Doubtful the OP goes down the road with the generator out in the open like that. When it's in it's hidey hole, the license tag is fully visible.

Sorry, I thought the box was for the fuel and other items and the generator stayed outside, the way the picture was staged.

With a third glance, I see a shelf slide, coming out the side of the box. The lid is hinged to fall under the shelf slide. (The box is open from the side, not the top as we normally see it). It’s probably slid back in for travel, no doubt. Dang our geezer eyes. That’s a good concept, ya don’t have to lift the inverter out of the box. Nothings really off center for parking; and the license plate isn’t obscured when it’s packed up for the road!

That’s ingenious.

Where’s the spare tire?

Nice box and very convenient.

Maybe the spare is under the tongue like mine.

Generator and spare tire on 5.0

I relocated my spare tire on the 5th wheel pin box and built a slide out hitch tray for my Honda eu3000. I will try to attach some pics.

I'm unclear on the concept of the pull out drawer. Why is it needed? Is the generator pulled out to run? If so, why, when a properly baffled intake and exhaust would allow allow for quieter operation in the box. If the slide is for access, why, when a simpler hinged door could allow access?

It's a nice installation, I'm just wondering about the thinking behind the design.

Maybe he didn’t want to design and engineer a Helmoltz-tuned muffler, quiet exhaust vent, or internal silencing baffles?
