Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Brakes

I see that the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust 23-468 will retrofit the standard manual adjusting 23-027. Searched the web and saw some of you commenting in 2013 on fiberglasrv.com.

Question now is, did Ian Hall or anyone else have them installed and what is your experience? I know the usual opinions regarding annual bearing & brake service, yet we have put over 12,000 miles on our trailer since October and one should adjust brakes every 3,000. It would be nice if these work as advertised- they don't cost but about $10-$15 more than the standard kit.

On Etrailer.com they show a video and the commentator makes the statement that the stopping distance is 50% shorter than other brakes and that they will reduce brake wear.

I put a set on my Scamp 19 last September. Love them!

John, you've been everywhere and continue to go everywhere! Do you have any regrets at all about replacing the standard brakes with the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Brakes... I mean ANY?

Love your blog and following along on yours and BJ's travels

No regrets at all, Donna. In fact, I was just talking to my son about putting them on his Creek Side stickie next year when he does new tires and services the wheel bearings.

Thanks for the kind words about the blog. I've been boondocking east of Mesa Verde NP for the past week. Pulling up stakes tomorrow to go join folks at the Rocky Mtn Egg Rendezvous.

When we can finally order our 21' I'm going to ask Reace if it is possible to get the Nev-R-Adjust models installed on it. I think these would be a great option if I can talk him into offering them. I image Dexter offers the axles with these installed to manufacturers.

Now if Dexter would start making a Nev-R-Lube sealed bearing model in Escape axle sizes......

I believe some Airstrems have both Nev-r-lube and Nev-r-adjust axles...

Last time I looked Dexter wasn't making the Nev-R-Lube in the size axles Escape uses, it would be great to have both of those features.

Since the actual braking action is the same, I assume that the performance improvement results entirely from having the brakes better adjusted... but that's certainly a valid benefit.
