I'd rather have it and not use it versus needing it and not having it.

My other problem is I can't stand not to have the tools & parts to fix anything. I carry far too many spare parts & tools than necessary, many of which I have never had to use, but if I needed them, the idea of not having them just isn't acceptable. I only have 3 tool boxes & three parts bins...

I too am keen on gizmo's, it is just that I can't, or more accurately don't want to, bring them all along. I have a buddy who is a major techno geek, and he brings a small duffel bag of electronic gizmos along. For all the camping I do, it is a nice break to get away from most of it. If I were in your shoes, and travelled what you do Jon, I would likely bring more along.
A have tools to do most anything, BUT I have resigned myself to only bring tools for small repairs. I am willing to suck up the cost should I need any major work, and fortunately that has yet to happen. When I tow with my work truck, it is loaded with tools, but most of them are building/woodworking oriented.

We consider you pretty much a lost case anyway, Ron.
I remember discussing your obsessive need to carry tools.

While this is fine to some degree, we could easily find a horde of things to bring along. If one keeps going with this attitude, in short order you would need larger trailers, and larger tow vehicles. If one is good with this, there is nothing wrong with it. Just for me, if I see no need, why create one. I am weird that way.

dbaily, I like your concept of "precision" concerning wants/needs. Helps clarify things for me.
As to gizmos... I'm still trying to figure out if we want/need an inside table!

As for the storage box on the front, the extra room will come in handy and a big plus is the rock protection for the front of the trailer. As for a whole bunch of cooking aids, who wants to spend hours cooking up a gourmet meal when on vacation. But again if that is your thing, go for it and be mean when your cooking odors come wafting in our direction. Loren

Going from a Casita 17' LD to the Escape 19 is like decadence to us. But it's true, with that extra room, comes great responsibility! I tend towards hoarding and will have to keep this in mind when packing for the Escape. We do look forward to the box in the front, for storage and quick access of outside items. Everyone I've spoken with who has it, likes the box's extra space and its' rock protecting qualities.
Now, as I continue to pack for the upcoming trip, will try and heed the wise words spoken by many--"less is more"! Peace~

After the second time of hauling the table & pedestal we made for it to be portable we've decided we just don't like using it with a u-shape dinette w/flip up tables.
What we can't live w/out is this Very glad we got the inverter & transfer switch.

Yes, the box protects from rocks but unfortunately we never take off the box to see what it protected!
An Escape is minimalist as far as trailers go, so I guess we can load them up as much as possible with every conceivable option. . And still make a reasonable claim of minimalist.

I just bought a yeti cooler and while reading the two manuals I was thinking what directions do you need for a cooler?

I call it Right-Sizing. And it usually is about half way between need and want.
Like, I wanted a collapsable expensive ladder to attach a tarp to my camper in the rainy season.
What I needed and got was a 25 cent cup hook, screwed into the end of the broom handle. And it works fine putting up the tarp!
Go figure....
