I am new to Escape but not new to trailers. Has anyone put bolts through the hinges instead of the 1 to 1&1/2 screws that ETI fastens the door with? I guess one would need backing plates inside to reinforce but right now just undoing six screws lets anyone remove the door completely. Any suggestions?
Any determined thief could be through the door and into your Escape in seconds, even with bolts in the hinges. My advice is to have good insurance and don't worry about door hinge security.
Believe me, if your lock ever fails, it is nice being able to remove the door.
