drinking water purification
Hi Folks: Has anyone installed a drinking water purification system. At home, I have a RainFresh dual system, carbon and ceramic filters. Too bulky to install in the 17B. So far, all the other systems I've found also look too big for easy installation. Any ideas?

Re: drinking water purification
Hi: prairieboy... At home we have filtered softened well water. We load the tank with it and a 2.5 gal. bottle for coffee and drinking, as well. Usually lasts 1-2 weeks and then we empty and reload at home again. The beer you can pickup along the way!!! Alf

Re: drinking water purification
How about an exterior water filter system, filter the water before it gets to the trailer plumbing:
http://www.discountfilterstore.com/w...an-rvf-10.html. One of of the forums, (I'll have to look), there's a mod to add an attachment to the frame that keeps the filter off the ground.
On edit: found it, the info and pictures are on FiberglassRV here (Water Filter Mount):

Re: drinking water purification
As Donna said - we use an external inline RV water filter for all the water going into our freshwater tank. http://www.amazon.com/Camco-40043-Ta...8342004&sr=8-2 Then we use a Pur pitcher to further filter our drinking water. http://www.amazon.com/CR-6000-Stage-...8342131&sr=8-4

Re: drinking water purification
I keep the fresh water tank clean (empty after trips, and run some diluted clorox occassionally), but do not drink the water. We use the water from the fresh water tank, and from the campground hookup for washing, showering, and tooth brushing only. Water quality and taste (in particular) vary so, and the second can just plain RUIN a good cup of coffee.
So, we carry along a 2 1/2 gallon jug of fresh water (or more if we're gonna be gone long, and can't get to a store), and the coffee is ALWAYS good!

Re: drinking water purification
If I am going for a weekend, the water I load from my home tap is just fine for all uses. I cleanse the fresh water system each spring.
If going on longer trips where I will hook up to the campsite water, I will often pick up a gallon or two of water for my coffee and drinking. I would like to eliminate this if possible as it is just one more thing to have in the way, and am going to try one of those filters.

Re: drinking water purification
For crying out loud. If you need to purify your water ( for coffee or simply for drinking ) just carry a quart of Jack Daniels. Light weight, easily replenished.

Re: drinking water purification
I love a glass of JD, and I love my coffee too. But both must be drank straight up, with nothing detracting from the good taste.

A 2.5 gallon bottle of store-bought for the coffee...everything else is straight from the tap. Keeps the immune system challenged.

You know I heard somewhere that people that live in colder climates have stronger immune systems.. So basically most of the Escape owners should be able to withstand a nuclear fallout!
