My 21 is about 2 months old. The battery is under the rear bench of our U-shaped dinette.

I decided to check the battery water levels. All the cells were low (although the plates were not exposed). I added about 1/4 cup of distilled water to each which brought the water level up to the bottom of the ring.

When I closed the lid, I noticed that it rocked. There is no seal and probably 1/8 inch gap when the lid was rocked to one side. I added a strip of 3/4 x 5/16 inch rubber foam weather seal around the inside of the lid. This appears to provide a good seal.

Right now I have checking the battery water level as part of my quarterly servicing. I am wondering if I should increase this frequency.

Box lid seal

Thanks for sharing this positive improvement you made to your Escape.i checked the water
level after I picked it up in early August or late July and not since. I'll level the cells up as I winterize shortly and then check it again in April when I get her ready for the spring campaign. About 4 times a year seems to be often enough for me.
YMMV

I've been doing it 2 or 3 times a year, it's usually down a little. Quarterly should be good.
