Electric Jack Model?

Hello,

I am contemplating installing an electric jack on my Escape 21' and I am concerned about space requirements given the placement of my propane tanks. The front surface of the propane tank cover seems to leave only a half inch or so behind the manual crank handle housing. I suspect the motor housing on an electric will need more space than that. So, my questions: Does anyone out there have a 21 with a front storage box and an electric jack? If you do, what make and model jack do you have?

Thanks much!

Fletch

The motor housing on the electric jack that ETI used to list as an option is at the top of the jack, and doesn't interfere with the propane tank cover. I don't recall the brand but most have similar dimensions.

PS-- I believe its this one from Atwood:

It is a Atwood model , i had one on our 19 and have one ordered for the 21. It does mean you have to remove the propane cover to open the storage box lid

Not with mine. I have an Atwood 3500 lb electric jack, white enclosure, and it does not interfere with my propane cover or box lid. I open the box lid with my propane cover on with no problem.

Here it is:

Nice jack! How did you pick the 3,500? It must make lifting very easy

My buddy has an electric jack. Five minutes of that is more annoying than an hour of Honda genset. :

I'm talking up, release the WDH bars, down, unhook, up, move the vehicle, up or down to level.
Don't know what model he has, but he doesn't like to arrive at a campsite late, or leave early.
Think chalk on a blackboard.

I agree that the noise is horrendous but Terry is thrilled that he doesn't have to crank. And we do need to adjust the propane cover in order to open the storage box.

jack for hitch

Amazon 4500# delivered to our next camp ground to save my shoulder. I really like it and I can lift the jeep to attach the chain unit on the Anderson.

Ahh ... I see what you are saying, the whole show ! I am hoping that the 3500 lb model would move like Jack LaLanne was inside ... smooth and quiet.

I remember using my jack in the late morning or early afternoon when all people are awake and only once when I arrive and once when I leave, for about 2 minutes. Using a generator is living a in a whole different dimension. If you live there you may not know it or understand it...

I knew you'd take the lure...
But, an electric jack that makes that sort of racket is like a fridge that doesn't cool.

I've camped in an all molded towable for a number of years in all kinds of campgrounds. I've heard slides moving in/out, jacks going up and down, etc., etc., etc., To ME, none of that is as annoying as someone who owns a barking dog and doesn't do anything about it. YMMV.

So see... it's about what you think is noisy.

Ok Gbaglo - choice, which is worse to you.
. you are a baby and your milk went bad in the refrigerator or you hear a whirring sound and someone screaming 'jack off' 'jack off'.

A little noise can be funny but a hungry baby is always stressful,

We were @ one campground and a camper came in and used a power impact wrench for their stabilizers. It was like going to the tire section of Sears!

I have to admit I get embarrassed by the noise of the electric jack, but it's only a few minutes and imho it is nothing compared to a couple hours of being downwind from someone's generator as we were in St. Mary's last summer. And don't get me started on someone's barking dog. I don't mind a couple of bow-wows, but the endless barking is very hard to take.
