Jim, sounds like you need a checklist.

I used to balk at checklists, but as I age, they seem to help my remembry out a wee bit.

Plus, when you divide the check list up into "you do this part and I'll do that part", you know who has to do the dishes for the rest of the trip when something does get forgotten!
