Amen. Even leaving it on in the evening for any reason other than a task light, bothers me too. Some of the ones that are real dim are okay, but I have seen people leaving really bright ones on while they are out for an evening. I kinda like having no light pollution, one of the reasons I like the provincial type sites with no street lights too.

That's the main reason we like the yellow lens, not near as harsh. Even that's only on for night bathroom runs and such, prefer candle or fire light.

Anyone out there having trouble with their exterior lights? And what has been the problem?

Mine has withstood 4 years of all kinds of weather. Actually, I should say 3 years - last year I changed out the switch for a "3 way" (double pole) and added an inside switch so I could turn it on from either location. It does collect a bit of condensation on the interior of the lens, but it has not caused any problems.
As to changing the switch, it is a 5 minute job, 4 1/2 minutes of which is un & re soldering the connections. It snaps in. Direct replacements (either single pole or double pole) are available here.

Jon, is that a forward facing light on the front of the trailer?

I can't agree more, Donna. Brings to mind the very rustic, wooded campsite I was in in Blairsville, GA (northern GA) and then some moron moves in beside me and proceeds to string rope lights on the ground delineating the area around his stickie, turns them on and leaves them on 24/7 for the entire 3 days he is there. The porch light he only turned on from dusk till dawn. Guess he didn't want to trip over his portable satellite dish, which I doubt was working due to the tree cover in the area, or the two garden gnomes decorating the area in front of his trailer.

Had an incident like this, I just asked if they would mind if I unplugged them when I went to bed the next night. They chose to unplug them when they went to bed instead.

Some people feel it is a great look to light up there campsites like Christmas trees. I know for a fact that I am not alone in feeling it is somewhat intrusive to others .
I love much of what people do in the name of glamping, with all the cool decorating their trailers, making them unique to them, and their style. I think some do lights for this reason, not something I care for at all, especially left on well into the night.
Okay, I'm all better now, released all my grumpiness.

No, it is the standard outside light by the door (or, at least, what was standard in 2011).

I'm having both my exterior lights installed below the belly band, down low to illuminate the ground, not the area. The street side for those night time hookups and the curb side for the step. For an area light I got the awning light which will not be on unless we are using it.
