Fabric valences

Has anyone recovered the fabric valences in their Escape?
We got the display model of the generation 2 17b so we didn't get a chance to pick our own fabrics. I'm changing the cushions and I'd like to change the valences too. If anyone has done it and has tips, I would appreciate it!

If you take one down by removing only 2 screws, you will see that the fabric is simply folded and stapled in place.

What Techfan said.

I took down the valences around our dinette, so I could attach my old dragonfly lace curtains to them. It was easy to do and I could tell it would be easy to recover the valences if/when ever I want.

Mary I would love to see how your windows turned out with the added lace curtains. Do you have any photos?

This is Sally (SterJen). I had my valances covered. I will try to post some pictures of the results today.

There's one on this What's Inside My Back Window thread.

And another on this Expecting a 21, Mid-September thread.

I just looked more closely at your picture to see the dragonflies and noticed your red lobster on the table--missed it the first time around. I have one of those that I brought back from a business trip to San Francisco in the early '90s. I told my grandson the creature's name was "Crabby." It wasn't until a few years later that I noticed that Crabby was a lobster. We still have him. We still call him Crabby.

Valances

I added the 'ears' to the valances using double stick Velcro.
Now that they are up, I don't like them as much as I thought I would. I'm considering making them several inches shorter and/or adding tie-backs, or gathers.
Any and all suggests are appreciated.
Sally

Crabby's a great name for a lobster, IMHO. I don't even remember where ours came from. We carried it everywhere we went in our Casita, so now it lives in the Escape.

FWIW, last February we caught a little purple (plush) gator at the New Orleans Mardi Gras, so now I guess we have a menagerie. The gator's not much bigger than the lobster (which we pretend is a crawfish, although we know lobster have the big claws and crawfish not so much).

We made ours a little larger and covered to match fabric on throw pillows.

I think I may copy your example and replace the 'ears' I attached with a border along the bottom of the valance.
