Freestanding Springfield Table mount?

For my new 19' dinette, I need the table to be easily movable into the bed position. After looking at many options (Snap2, Lagun, Springfield, etc), I am wondering if it would be feasible (i.e., stable enough) to mount the Spingfield 3-stage telescoping doohickie to a large, flat, heavy base and make it freestanding? My table will be about 30" square (with a 12" filler for the bed)

If the base is large & heavy enough, I suspect it would work, however I also suspect it would end up a PIA to store the pedestal with attached base when you were not using it. It is still going to be well over 1' of pedestal when lowered.

For an easily removable base that has the ability to swing the table out of the way, you can't beat the Lagun. It is not as stable as the Springfield, but works for me. I use it with one of the folding teak tabletops from Marine Teak.

We purchased a snap 2 base for our 21 table. We do not have a ushaped dinette. We obtained 2 plastic slide pairs from ETI. Mounted slides to the table and to a table support 3/4 plywood that is smaller than the table. Then mounted the support to the Snap 2 base. Easy up and down. Travels well in the down position on the “rails” of the bench seats. Our second setup like this. Total cost well under $100. We picked the snap 2 base in Elkhart as we are in Northern Indiana often. Saved the ridiculous revenue producing shipping cost.
That’s our experience and the second one we have done this way. We like the fact that we can completely remove the table from then trailer and use it outside or in the Clam. Fits through the door sideways easily. Stability is good, adjusts to level easily and stays there, sides about eight inches either way plus can move several inches on the floor left or right or ahead. Plenty of room for this old boy to get in and out. Took 2 1/2 hours and a six pack to fabricate and assemble. No injuries with skill saw or drill.
