Froli sleep system

Has anybody used this system under the mattress?

Looks like not only does it ventilate but you can also adjust your comfort. Just may help you adjust your stock Escape mattress if your not satisfied with it.

Might be easier to have shipped rather than the rolled products.

There is a video to watch on their home page

It has been discussed in this forum several times over the last few years - just search for "Froli" with the forum's search tool or Google.

I don't know why.

Most everything has been discussed numerous times over the years. But, things change. What might have been common knowledge two years ago is accepted as no longer true.
Suggesting a search is just an acknowledgement that there is a lot of good information to be found that way.
But, new information, new ideas arrive daily.

I agree. There are always new people and new ideas on this forum. The search option is nice as just that, an option. As a newer member, I like the active discussions that take place here. Just as searching past discussions is an option, not entering current discussions that are rehashing one that has previously occurred is an option.

But, reminding people that there is a search option is helpful.

Just the perspective of a newer member.

I did notice in the videos that the way the base system clicks together has changed.

Sounds like it may be good time to ask for long term assessment of the product from someone that has installed it a few years ago.

The search is useful because the Frolic system is fundamentally the same as it was for those previous discussions, so just reading them gets a bunch of the requested feedback immediately, without requiring effort from anyone to re-post what they have already shared, and including the experience from people who may never respond to or even see the current thread.

Of course, some people like to live in Groundhog Day, and start from scratch every time they do anything.

Good questions might be:
has anyone found that the changes to the system make any difference?
after a few years of use, has your opinion of the system changed?

If you have an Ikea near by you can install one of these ( https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60160217/? gclid=Cj0KCQiA7briBRD7ARIsABhX8aA3tVDCXM8ivJDms6CU KhhLN91jzeWv9EduMDAp8Tl1fBfJm6HCfpIaAmhUEALw_wcB#/00160215 )

I found ours in the As-Is section for $10.

Does the Froli still allow a person to still lift the under mattress access door on the 21?

It should...if you check out the last video link in the first post of this thread, you will see at the 2:58 min mark how a lid can be lifted. They just don’t attach all the base units down the sides where the lid opens.

That is a hard to beat price!! However, I prefer the Ikea Lonset system. It is a bit more but I can tell you from personal experience of using it for over two years in our 19' that it increased the comfort of our sleep considerably. The Lonset has two different slats colored grey and white. The white ones have more give under the hips and shoulders. The comfort comes close to our $3,000 Serta bed system with built in memory foam.

Plus with the side rails with the rubber holders on top, one has considerable air flow around the mattress.

Ron first did this mod at this link posts 1 & 2.

http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f8...-a-9267-2.html

Then I copied him in posts 25 & 26. I consider this to be one of the best mods I did.

Froli Travel System in 19'

Yes, and we really like it.

We installed the Froli Travel system, which is supposed to fit a queen (60x80"). Assembly offers three base element spacings, and we used the smallest spacing throughout for a more firm feel. With that, we needed 12 additional base elements. With the Escape corners, we also needed 2 small elements. We added the tension clips on all the elements except for the two rows at our feet.

The Froli-provided ventilation is essential for any good mattress. The Froli also allows you to highly customize the bed's feel.

Froli travel raises the mattress about 2 inches, and provides excellent ventilation under the mattress.

We are planning to change the Escape OEM mattress with an all wool 5" thick or a natural-latex-core, wool wrapped 6.5" thick mattress.

Yes - given that to access beneath the bed for working, you really need to remove the mattress. We normally access the space through the cabinet doors.

Because the Froli system is so light and flexible, you can easily raise the hatch with the mattress off and Froli in place.

Otherwise, you can disconnect (15 to 18 snap-offs) and remove the elements above the hatch as a unit. You might also keep the segments on the hatch separate from the others, but that would be not maintain the spacing between elements.

The entire assembly took about an hour, once we removed the mattress. Suspect it would take < 10 minutes to snap-off or snap-on the element block atop the hatch.

Very good mod ! Having a inner spring mattress just on plywood makes for a horrible bed . We sold our mattress as soon as we got home .
We made our own mattress with foam ,thin air mattress and the softness Taylay latex topper . Using the Froli system is a great improvement if using the inner spring mattress ! Pat

All these comments on the various under mattress systems, i.e.
LÖNSET and Frolic etc., have been most helpful for me since I am always
searching for lightweight, minimalistic approaches to better back
support when sleeping.

I just installed the Froli Star system in my 5.0.

Even tho I got ETI to provide a full\double size mattress instead of the std queen size I ordered the queen sized system so I would have the air space underneath stuff I store at the side of the mattress. I used the middle spacing except for the last one on each side where I used the maximum. For complete floor coverage another row of 12 is needed at the end and 3 in the front corner. I'll order more base pieces and the red tensioners for all the ones on the sides where the storage space is.

Even as a full sized mattress that thing is very difficult to get down & even more so getting it back up, on the base without tearing the base up. I used the roll of left over upholtery fabic as an aid. Somehow in the process I got the mattress reversed (curved end is supposed to be at the curved nose of the trailer). I might eventually correct it.

The pics show:

1) the arrangement I did using all of the pieces;
2) my Eurmax shade room in place, with & without a shower curtain liner around it.
