Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty
My husband is going to live longer because he has a pet. Said pet, (a cat) requires certain modifications in our Escape 19.
John cut a hole in settee wall for her to access her litter box (beforehand, he took measurements to select the perfect litter box). He needs only to lift settee cushion and access panel to scoop.
Of course she needs to scratch. A ball of sisal rope and two large hose clamps, wrap, wrap, wrap the table pedestal & clamp. Voila! A scratch post!
The other contraption on pedestal is a foot stool for husband.

Very cool! I was wondering where to put the kitty box ....
I'm also considering camping with my cats but I'm suspicious of the screen door in my 19'. Looks far to easy to climb or burst through.
Other than keeping the main door closed, anyone have any ideas how to deal with the screen door?

I have a dog who has gone through the screen door once already, and come close on two other occasions. I've even walked into it myself. I'm considering installing, as an additional screen, one of those magnetic snap contraptions. I just need to figure how to keep it out of the way when it's not really needed.

Pets and screen door:
Due to first cat disappearing one morning, the replacement kitty has never set foot on dry land. She gets carried from house to truck to TT. As a precaution, we cut two pieces of plexiglass. They are hinged with clear shipping tape. They are tall enough (or should I say short enough) that folded together, they fit under rod in wardrobe. We unfold, leaving enough angle that they will stand in doorway. Used couple pieces of cardboard for prototype.
Since a dog is accustomed to going outside, you might have more of a problem with it "going through the screen". The cat is content to not bolt through the screen door. We still like to use the plexiglass if we are seated outside.

How quickly we forget. Actually used three pieces of Plexiglass. Very hard to photo with light in doorway, so moved it to table. Draped a couple Kleexex on top so you can find in photo.

My avatar is every bit as dainty as she looks. Once I'm able to place an order, figuring out puppy modifications is high on my list. The screen door doesn't stand a chance.

I posted this before but worth doing again.
Do not tie your dog to the awning arm. My buddy did. Brittany Spaniel spotted a bird and took after it, coming to an abrupt stop at the end of his 30' leash ( if you can call 30' a leash ).
When he went to put the awning away a few days later, he found the arm bent enough that it wouldn't slide to close. Had to do some impromptu metal work with a rock and a piece of 2 X 4.

That is the reason I spray painted a design on my screen door! It is a silver glitter paint that can be seen even in dim light. I was afraid after about 1/2 dozen times going through it, that I may not be able to get it back and working.

In answer to the question regarding how to not walk through the screen, why not try a "screen saver"?
And, we have three cats and would like to take them along on short trips. However, we don't want to keep them cooped up in the Escape all the time. So, we are considering building some sort of collapsible "play pen" for them we could set up outside. Have to ponder that one a bit longer.....

It might not help much with clawing the scrren, but if it is just pushing though (or visibility) which is a concern, two or three of these across the bottom half might be effective: Screen Door Cross Bar. I assume they're widely available, and a home-made equivalent might not be too difficult, but Camping World happened to advertise this one in a recent e-mail.

I like the idea of spray painting a design. can you give more detail....did you remove the screen door; did you spray the inside or outside? etc. thanks.

I did some masking around a taped on stencil, and then sprayed from inside the trailer to the outside. I should have masked a bit more, but c'est la vie! The idea is to see it at all levels: adults, kids and dogs (or cats and other animals as the case may be.)
Some people have "embroidered" or stitched designs with thick thread or thin yarn as well.
Have fun.

Do these screen doors roll up when opened, or would you call it closed ?
Doug, what are the screen savers? can't tell from the pic. Is yours painted on like Sandra's?

I think the screen doors are durable but have popped open on us (including once not a minute after we saw a coyote going after a squirrel not 15' away!). Cat stayed put (smart!). I'm pondering a failsafe for the screen such as a screw in the door and another in the adjoining frame so I can attach a rubber band or similar to them.
Here's a problem with them tho, we actually had a squirrel enter our trailer UNDER the screen and start eating the cat's food! The bottom track is only a guide, not attached to the screen.
