If you want to have the Tstat control the A/C as well as the heat you will need the proper Tstat subbase, and possibly additional control wire (18-4 or 18-5) and a low voltage relay for the A/C. The control voltage for the furnace and A/C are derived from different sources and must be kept electrically isolated.
I replaced the stock heat only thermostat in my 17B with a Honeywell RTH111 Digital Thermostat. While not programable, it does what I wanted -shows the temperature on a digital display. Uses an internal battery for the electronics, so it doesn't draw anything from your trailer battery.

Can't go wrong with that one and it's just soooo much more civilized than the stock one.

It will be well worth the $30 in comfort. Runs on batteries, lights up when touched so you can read it in the dark, simple to use and install and actually controls the temperture.

It's all your fault Donna. You were the one that insisted we "make it ours".

I'm on first name basis with the UPS person, in fact he toured my Escape one weekend with his wife, wanted to see where all the stuff that he drops off looks like out of the box.
