How is the A/C?

Hello:

We are on the schedule for a 21' due way off in March 2015 (maybe we are #1000!--don't know). Anyway, we do a lot of hot weather camping. Is the 11,000 BTU good for enough for 90+ high humidity days (or weeks)? I notice even the small stickies have 13,500.

In our 19 it seems fine . This week has been around 30 most days which is around 90 i think ?. Cools it down nicely

I do not have A/C installed (yet), but if I did, the smaller size would be just fine. As it is, I have camped in 35°C temps, and with nighttime temps dropping below 20°, did just fine with the ceiling fan. If I lived in Florida, no doubt the A/C would have been bought with my trailer though. Living where I do, the heater is a much more important feature.

On the other hand, I recently camped for a week in a 19' with daytime temps of 100 F, night temps 80 F. We were in full sun from early afternoon. Didn't always use the A/C for the whole night. Often just cooled trailer down from around 5-7 pm. Then we were good for the night with just the maxxfan. Was very glad to have the A/C, the A/C was sufficient for our trailer.

We camped for three weeks this summer (July) in Southwest US with daytime temperatures ranging from about 85 to 110°F. Night time temperatures usually cooled off well below the day time highs. About 1/2 of our sites had electrical services and we were able to use the Air Conditioning. We found that the standard Escape AC was more than capable of managing the temperatures, and in fact we often found it too cold in the trailer with the AC on low fan and coolest settings. The nights without AC tended to be warmer, but the Maxfan did a pretty good job of keeping air circulation going. (Although not relevant to the AC, the 6.7cu-ft fridge worked well throughout the trip on propane and 120V, keeping contents cool and/or frozen even on the hottest days.)

Be sure and get the digital thermostat with the a/c it allows the unit to operate like at home and then shut off. The conventional thermostat requires a manual turn off. The 11,500 is just right for the E21 as the 13,500 in the stickies is way too big and you will have hot and cold swings with the bigger unit, the right size unit needs to run and condition/dehumidify the air, not just freeze the occupants.

Ok, sounds like the 11,000 BTU with digital thermostat is good.
