insulating the storage hatch lid?
so our 'new' 2014 Escape 21 has the extra insulation, double pane windows, and underside foam options.
I note the outside walls under the bed have what looks like reflectix. but the outside storage hatch door that opens to this under-bed space has nothing.
wouldn't it make sense to insulate that door too? Maybe cut two pieces of reflectix to fit the inside of the hatch, and glue them on with 3M supertrim adhesive ?

So did I and any attempt to make them more weatherproof would make them more inaccessible.
One could access items from inside and make the door weather proof if they chose. In my 21 the items removed were chairs and mats similarly in my 19. I guess if you'd not want to use those items in the winter you could seal off that area.

If you find my thread "Ikea slatted bed base in a 19" 01-01-2017, you'll find my comments on the hatch, the area and my solution.
Hint, at 0* outside air temperature the interior hatch surface temperature is 0*.

not sure how you could get chairs through that exterior hatch, its just not that big... ok, I suppose 'sling bag' chairs, as opposed to the fold-flat variety.

Practically all my chairs fit through the hatch, fold flat director chairs in both aluminum and wood are carried as well as 2 tables under the bed. my mats because they are dirty go in the truck bed. Even my small clam will fit through the hatch.

My solution: At 0 degrees outside air temperature, our entire 2017 Escape 21' will be 0 degrees because it will be winterized and in storage while we will be inside our cozy house, curled up by the wood stove, drinking hot chocolate.

Well sometimes O degrees is the price you pay to get to somewhere where you don't have to be inside with a wood stove.

Ron,
I hope it was high tide when you took that bottom picture. Talk about oceanfront parking. Much nicer than 0 degrees.

No worries, not much tidal action in the Sea of Cortez.
