Has anyone in BC found a local source for that track?

Sailrite is the same company that mails directly to ETI the Sunbrella fabric for the cushions. I think they have a way to send in Canada. Also, remember it is not only the track you need but the awning rope as well.

Since these are "marine" products, I would think that you might try one of the boating outlets in BC to see if they carry or can order the products for you. Again, I know that Sailrite does a lot of business in Canada.

The way I adjust is just to cut a different lengths of pvc pipe. If you don't glue the cap or elbow on, all you have to do is substitute a longer or shorter piece of pipe when you put them up. A couple of different lengths take up virtually no extra space and cost pennies (unless you live in Canada.) My rule of thumb on these awnings has alway been KIS (Keep it simple) which is why I posted the directions for people to make their own. Tim

Plus, we have found that you can make some minor adjustments just by moving the position of the horizontal arms - they still work even if not exactly horizontal - and that changes the awning coverage of the window.

Thanks. I know these boating outlets well having outfitted two ocean going and numerous other smaller boats. Can't recall ever seeing it and nothing shows up searching their websites. If there was a local source I'd grab some and go ahead. Otherwise I'll leave it for now. I was surprised that Camping World doesn't seem to have it.

Have you checked Nardone?
I bought some marine vinyl for a chair at home. See web site for marine upholstery. Under Second Narrows Bridge.

Not for that but I drive by their place frequently so I'll stop in and ask. If they don't have it maybe they know a local supplier. If not I'll wait until a friend who orders sail making stuff from Sailrite and have it included in his order.

Curtain Replacements

We are just finishing up our latest mod, replacing the standard shades. We were looking to make something warmer, more colorful, and help in eliminating drafts. We chose to use Warm Window material, which is very thick and has a reflective and insulating barrier inside. The three pictures below show the various modes. One is the back window rolled up with the outside showing white. One is the fully down mode where the sides are velcroed in place and the top and bottom snapped tightly to the window frame. The third shows the escape window in the bloused mode where it is tucked and held up by velcro on the sides. The clips are to help reduce the "puff" of the warm window material.

Anticipated advantages: tighter seal to prevent moist air reaching the window, prevention of night time drafts on our heads from the convection currents from the windows, better hot weather insulation, room darkening and elimination of the tensioning clips on the corners of the windows.

Anticipated disadvantages: a little more cumbersome to roll up or put in the partial up stage.

Very, very nice and it certainly gives off a warm vibe! But I don't get where the printed fabric is when everything is tucked away (first pic). Are there two separate layers of fabric?

Edited: Okay, I think I see it. The roll is rolled up "backwards" so the printed fabric is on the inside?

If you roll up from the bottom to the inside, then the outside facing fabric shows (which is white) and the pattern fabric is rolled to the inside. I suppose you could make two layers of printed fabric on both the inside and the outside, but we wanted white facing out, which is also the moisture resistant layer of the Warm Window fabric.

Rolling all the way up gives you the most compact profile and much of the curtain tucks into the valence.

I think these look really nice. do you think you will get much condensation behind the shades when they are down? I suppose it isn't a big deal. Just wipe it up with a rag in the morning when you open the shades, but would be curious to hear a report after you have used them for a bit.

Still, I really like the looks of them.

Looks great - as do all of your mods!!!
Question:
How do you attach the Velcro to the window frame? We've never had luck getting the stick-on Velcro to stay on the window frame...in hot weather the glue gets hot and too soft to stay put.

mods to our trailer

bought a sheet of same material Escape uses for projects. Cut a piece to go behind stovetop . it will sit behind vent and loosen screws and tucked it there holds it pretty well . Also cut down table and we like it up all the time we put our 3 galloon water container which has a manual pump to get our water . Did not like trying to get by or putting it up and down . Working on another idea for more counter that can be removed and put away . Pat

Here's what I did for extra counter space. Holds things like a couple of plates etc. to the right of the stove. Same height as the counter. It's swing down, swing up.

Works for us.

That looks good, Ron. I have been trying to arrive at the same resultant, but with it turned tight against the gable. This would mean some kinda fancy swivel too, as it has to turn on two axes. Keeping it simpler like this is likely the way to go, and much easier to accomplish.

Great mods. Your unit looks fantastic.

A few minutes ago I signed off on my ETI build sheet for my 5.0TA. I just want to thank everyone on the Forum who posts helpful hints. Your ideas have been invaluable for me in choosing.....whatever options are out there. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Good idea Ron . I have the material to match counters . Also thinking of maybe a extension in front of sink that would hang and could be removed when not needed. I saw a 2 piece hanger maybe would work . One piece under sink the other on shelf extension .I need to see it in person to see if will work . I do have the flip up tables both walls in bed area , but they are shorter then what you made there . Still thinking . Pat
