'git 'er done, Fred.

Because sometimes hanging around under the awning at night we find the porch light a bit bright, but do like the brightness at times. I have thought of trying to find a dimmer for the switch for the porch light, but maybe a bit of LED strip which can be dimmed low would do the trick.

All I have done is bench test them to make sure they work before doing the install. I hope to have them done in the next couple of weeks.

Finally got around to completing the install on our 2017 21’ TT.

I will have to post photos in multiple posts.

I used a 12” 1/4” drill bit to drill at a bit of an angle.

I had 12V in the upper cabinet, but did not want the controller inside the upper cabinet, so I ran the cable so that is was located in the corner, under the passenger side bench. I found 12V there.
Just a matter of preference.

The red LED is displayed, but the colors can be changed.

I know there are less expensive LEDs on the market, but I chose Boogey Lights because I used them on my Harley and they never failed me. They are rated at IP65: Protected from total dust & from low pressure water jets from any direction

Great job Fred!

The picture of how to get wiring down the inside corner of the trailer is really informative - so that's how you get wiring from the bench area to the upper cabinets!

I see that the LEDs can do red - what other colors can it do? Also, did you get a remote control with it?

Did you cringe when it came time to drill that hole in the trailer? Every time I drilled a hole in my trailer, I had to measure it so many times to make sure it was going to be OK, it got close to not drilling it at all.

Thanks Tom!

The package I got included a wireless remote that displays 7 colors (Red, Green, Blue, white, light Blue, Orange, Purple) plus you can use an app via Bluetooth and you have a gazillion combinations.

It was exactly as you described. It took me a few beers to finally pull the trigger

If you need a hole in your trailer, you need a hole. I have never been gun shy about putting one in. I have put 3 large square holes and 5 smaller round holes in mine. I did measure twice to make sure it was right. Repairs could be made, but not a preferable route to take.

Your light install looks great, Fred. I am looking for something dimmable for when sitting around outside the trailer yet not wanting the bright light of the porch light, and though I had not planned to do an LED strip, it might fit the bill.

Understand...these are dimmable.
From very subdued to very bright. But, I think most have a dimming feature.

Just a suggest, when I installed one of these back in 2014 on my Escape 21, after 6 months some of the LEDs went out and I had to replace them. So when installing, make it easy to uninstall at some future time, you may have to.
