Low Pressure Quick Connect Install

Well, I cut me another hole in my trailer today. (bonus reflection of the photographer too )

That makes 3 to date. I have also drilled 3 holes, one on the top, and two on the bottom. More planned for the future too. Today's is the top one.

Here is the resultant, a Low Pressure Quick Connect hidden away in a hatch, as opposed to sticking out under the side of the trailer. I love having this feature, but was not so keen on the method of installation. The one on my 19 after six years was pretty beat up, and had been bent quite a few times. I could not find a hatch the right size and depth, so I bought a JR Products hatch which was only 2" deep, and I needed it at least 3 1/4". What I did was to cut the back of it out, and fold up a piece of 1/16" aluminum to mount the QC fitting in. The gas line is tapped into the main 1/2" line from the regulator.

Wow! Love the idea of having it encased/closed/protected when not being used. So when are you opening your Escape customization shop?

Neat solution Jim. No more bent QC outlets.

Jim, what product did you use to seal the seams on the aluminum box? It looks clean and neat.

It is the "emergency" connection to manually crank the landing gear up or down should the electric ability to do so fails. There is one on each side. They are found on all Escape 5th Wheels.

Very nice Jim!

I like this little hatch idea and may use it for cable connectors for cable to antennas on the mast. I plan to put a pole mount on my 5er hitch.

I have another hatch the same as that one that I will be using for said connections.

Hi: Jim Bennett... Should that hatch be vented to the outside? Just wondering!!! Alf

I don't believe so, but it is sealed off from the inside. Not a perfect deal on the door either.

One thing I realized using this mod I had not considered before is that it is much handier connecting the hose up higher than it is under the trailer.
