Making your AC quiet

A friend of mine recently did a mod on his AC to make it quieter. The basic. Concept is to smooth out the sir flow to cut the noise.

I found a couple of videos on YouTube that kinda explain this process. Thought I'd share for those that might be interested.

It seems to me that my A/C's noise is caused mostly by motor/compressor/fan noise and vibration, not airflow. But I haven't checked carefully so I could be wrong.

It's still no mini-split, but I could see sealing up the leaks helping slightly with the effectiveness. Not that it's particularly needed since at least for the insulated 19' the 11.5KBTU is kinda overkill. I'd be surprised if the noise changed much though - that's mostly compressor vibration as far as I can tell.

Also, on the second video I'm pretty sure he just put the radiant barrier side of that foam block on the cold side instead of the warm side. Oops.
