Also, wouldn't it be easier to add one of these regulators to each DC circuit near the fuses rather than adding them to each appliance? This wouldn't work for the refrigerator since it draws too much current for this regulator (12a max continuous) unless the power for the 12v heater and control boards can be easily separated.
I just checked the regulator on my fan and it doesn't seem to pull anything when the fan is off.
The Dometic 2554/2663 fridge is supposed to be good for up to 18 vdc.
I'm waiting on more regulators from ebay to add to the furnace and water heater.
The lights have been changed out to these: GRV T10 921 194 LED Bulb 24-5050 SMD lamp Super Bright AC 12V /DC 12V -24V

BTW they will replace the crappy bulb in the range hood!

Fridge is fine without. It runs perfectly from 9.6v to 18v and can handle up to 22v but shuts down until the voltage is lowered.

This post has the voltages

Thanks much rotorbudd and wetzk. I missed the posting by tdf-texas on the voltage requirements.

Heads Up

Just had the regulator I installed on my fan fail. It's the one from Amazon
I couldn't have run it more than 2 hours total. Although it's had power applied to it for 5 or 6 days straight.
I noticed that the voltage in strip was a little rusted, but didn't think it would hurt.
Look at the pictures. You can't see it on them but the PCB under the strip is darkened, like it was getting hot.
I've got a couple that came from Ebay/China and they are all bright/shiny without rust.

How’d you find out that it failed? What tipped you off to open it up and inspect the board?

It popped the 15 amp fuse.
The whole power strip was shorted to itself.

Perhaps a defect in the regulator?

Since it came from Amazon, it can be returned or replaced. Sorry you got a bad one - mine has been running fine. I did put a piece of black electrical tape over the led - it was a little too bright for over the bed at night.

I also have a few of the eBay regulators waiting to be installed at home once we get back. The shipping take a while but the price is right.

My fan regulator from Amazon just self-destructed as well. It did look suspiciously corroded when I received it. Fortunately I ordered (much cheaper) spares directly from China. Just installed one of these and it’s working fine, fingers crossed that it lasts longer than the last one. Threw the crap Amazon one in the trash.

Can you share the source for the better regulator?

Thanks! Mine from Amazon is corroded as well. I will not get anything installed for a month or so anyway. The trailer has a tarp on it and is buried to the windows in snow!

Sorry for the problems with the Amazon source - the one I received was rust free and has been working fine. I did order a few more from the Ebay source and they came in rust free as well.

Sorry I'm so late responding. Did you get the control board and regulator for your Maxxfan installed? We would like pics if you have them.

ps. for the Escape owners, Mark has a newer Casita with the Maxxfan. Casita used to install the Fan-tastic fan but seem to have switched. And of course, the control board died.

TDF, just got Maxxfan to agree to sending me a free replacement board. Ordered 2 regulators. Current free shipping April 22-May 3rd.
Maxxfan tech says they increased the Amp limit for the board to 13.8A.
Next trip to Pismo Beach, yearly vintage TT show.

Mark

Good news! The increase for the voltage limit to 13.8 volts is better than it used to be but still not good if the converter or solar charger is putting out over 14 volts.
