My Kitty "Window" Curtain

Of course I thought this would be a simple sewing project. Of course it wasn't. Let's just say I wasn't feeling super friendly towards my sewing machine earlier today. It didn't get chucked out the window, so it wasn't quite that bad.

Anyway, I was looking at the trailer the other day thinking "I need more color in here". I've been pondering this "curtain" for quite some time (heck, before I got the trailer) and it was time to fiddle around with some fabric to see how it'd look.

I ended up using the paw print fabric on the sides as my white with black kitties fabric wasn't wide enough. (Those who sew will relate to that comment!) However, I really like how it looks with those on the side, so let's just say it was planned.

It's held up with one of those spring tension curtain bars. It's long enough to slip behind the bed area. Originally I wanted to do a wall hanging with pockets in it, but since our bed (Select Comfort) is a bit shorter than the bed frame, I don't need to do that. I filled the middle part of that gap with thick foam and the rest is filled with the pump for the bed and small containers holding stuff like my travel alarm, eyeglass case, etc.

Now to see how if it stays up during travel and when I'm reading in bed. Fingers crossed! I'll find out tomorrow.

Cute! And the pawprint goes with my pawprint quilt backing, to which I had to add some solid fabric to make IT big enough, lol.

I need to look at how to do some blackouts. Camping in June means never seeing the dark.

Thanks Bobbie! The project for tonight is to make a bean bag base for the rear view/back up camera. We both detest things that suction to the windows, so we removed it from that type of mount, left a bit on the back of it for "feet". We'll see how well it stays in place while driving.

Then after that are the blackouts for the Maxx fan and the door window. I measured 'em yesterday and I still have lots of kitty fabric around to use. I also got some stiff black felt from JoAnn's that I plan to insert between the two layers of fabric to help darken it up.

Remember folks, not everyone wants to see the dawn!

Thanks! Yeah, I'm having loads of fun, in case you can't tell. Plus, I detest white walls. All of the others have blinds I can pull down to add some color, if need be. Or admire the view(s). But not that front end. It needed something more there.

Good thing the walls in Escape trailers are not white, eh?

I do, too, and I like getting inspired to do things for my own trailer. (Another reason I'd rather have it sitting in the garage than over in my friend's barn!)

This reminds me of when I was backpacking in the Pisgah Nat Forest and I woke up in the middle of the night with about 10-12 Critters of all variety staring in my face. In this case it would be all cats.

Interesting , I don't think I've seen this before . Guessing it might stay up just fine while travelling - however I wonder about it staying up while sleeping . Being a tension rod might it not slip if it is perhaps tugged or pulled with your head pillow while you sleep - I'm visualizing it coming down on your head . Yikes - what an awakening that would be . The other thing I was wondering , is if it doesn't dig into the headliner and do damage ( can't distinguish that in the photo ) .
