Had the new awning fully extended in the pouring rain a few weeks ago. Water pooled heavily in the middle enough to block the door. As soon as I noticed this I pushed up on the awning to get rid of the water and retracted awning. Nothing seems to be bent and the awning currently seems to work fine. I hope this didn't result in any hidden damage.
I finally got really good at extending the old awning now i have a new trailer with new awning. I am looking forward to opening/closing it so easily that i can close it when ever i leave the trailer /or at night without a thought. Glad people came up with the suggestion to close halfway in rain -we get a lot of rain so i will use that suggestion. I'm a little worried about adjusting it when it gets out of adjustment but i guess i will have to figure that out.
Had a freak storm with heavy rain in the Spring. I was about 100 yards away visiting another site when it broke loose. I knew my awning was open all the way and I ran to my site. The awning dumped the water just as it should and it has worked perfectly ever since. If it is rainy and I cannot keep a constant eye on it I retract it about 1/2 - 2/3 of the way to keep my table and chairs dry. That works like a charm. I was very skeptical about the new awning but after 6 trips so far I am very pleased.
We were at the South Beach Campground at the Olympic National Park (great place!!). Or awning was extended 1/3 to 1/2 to keep the train off our chairs. We were inside and noticed the wind come up. The awning retracted before we could react. We love it!
