New Tongue Lock

I thought I would share my new little project. I have been looking for new tongue and just have not really found one that I like. So I had this old two inch ball sitting around that many times I was going to throw away. Because it only had 5/8 inch threaded shaft which I always felt was under size for towing.
So I took a hour and cut the ball down on a lathe and than drilled a hole through a 1/4 thick 3 1/2 " diameter piece of 304 stainless steel and then welded the ball to the plate.
I just find it kind of funny what things we all do for Escape trailers that all hope everyone is having good day.

Nice job, all you need is a good lock for the handle.

Looks good. Performance of this will hinge on how fool-proof your pin lock is. What are your plans for a pin lock that cannot be easily defeated by a determined thief. I know that the one I have would slow them down for only a couple minutes.

Hi Dave,
I still have to cross that bridge for good hitch pin lock. Right now I just have a cheap old Master Lock hitch pin lock from my old trailer. Do you have any suggestions?

Modify Hitch Couple Lock

I have been looking for a hitch lock for the last couple of months that would fit on my Escape 19. I wanted something that would fit snuggly on the hitch so that it didnt have alot of side to movement. I could never find one so I end up just have to modify and existing hitch lock. Here what I came up with.
