New View

After camping a while, decided to make a change to open up our Escape and provide a new view out the rear passenger side window. The support/divider wall does contain vertical and horizontal framing, but there is a void. The change allows for a nice view from the front of the trailer and you can see the entry door easier from the dinette seat.

👍 I like it! You only removed skin, no framing?

Only one. I removed a ~5 inch piece of framing that was nailed at a 45 degree angle to a horizontal wooden stud and connected to the outside vertical stud. We've had it like this for a year (~5K miles) with no separations or problems, so I feel good. It was a certainty known risk.

A wooden stripper pole...careful of the splinters.
Looks good.

Maybe Escape would install another metal pole down there? The only down side is the cooking fumes/splatters from the stove?

We use the exhaust when cooking and haven't had any splatter problems yet. It would be great if ETI ended that side of the counter the same as the door entry side with a pole. That would look great! Though, having some sort of shield for cooking might be needed. Casita's have the cooktop next to the bed/dinette and it works fine, but their cooktop shield opens to prevent spatter from going the wrong way. In our case, we've found the wall is tall enough.

You can always reverse the sink and stove location and put the sink by the dinette.

I like! I've never liked how that wall blocks so much.

When I cook I use a folding solid screen thingie that catches a lot of the splatter. I can either wash that in the trailer or when I get home from a trip. something like that could help if you were sitting next to that open area.

Very nice work ! For me though I kind of like the separation for the bed area and sometimes wish it was more but we have a 19 making the dinette and bed area reversed . Pat

I had a similar thought, but for the best of both worlds maybe one could open up the panel, but then mount a blind in it for visual separation when desired.

Brian we do have a curtain for the bed area to help with the opening . Too late to go take a picture . Pat

That’s where our spice rack sits. Hangs, actually.

@ 1st glance, I thought, that's a strange picture! Then realized... As they say where I'm from "nice-a job-a"!

My aframe had bed right next to the stove which opened toward the driver’s side. I used a piece of semi-opaque plastic such as goes in an overhead fluorescent fixture. I just slid it between the counter and the mattress when I was camping and between the mattress and bench horizontally for travel.
