Over door storage shelf

I don't know who was the first person to think of using the space over the door for a small storage shelf and I've seen a couple of posts with them. So, whoever came up with the idea first, thanks.

I like having a place for all the little stuff, like a wallet, phone and sunglasses that usually clutter up the table. It's stuff that you use frequently and it's a nuisance to put away in a drawer and in the way when left on the table.

Like these simple to do, high return projects

Ron

In our motorhome (sorry, not an Escape, but the concept is the same) there is cabinet over the door, with the cabinet door hinged at the top. It's not very deep, but we do find it handy for those little things that one wants available... especially things that one might want when going outside, such as a flashlight, or pet's leash, or the items Ron listed. I added small stick-on hooks and keep keys there as well - you could put your tug keys there while in the trailer, for instance.

Hi Ron,
Thanks a lot you just add another thing to my most do modifications list for my Escape 19. Looks good ever inch of added storage space is a winner. My next project for my trailer is the under the back bed drawers on slider and come up with a better way to use the remaining area for storage. I want to come up with something that protect the bubble insulation for getting ripped up from heavier objects sliding around.

I think it's important to have what I call a "landing" by the door--just for this kind of stuff. That's why I had ETI put in that drop-down shelf right next to the door by my "permanent" bed.

Those folks getting the cubbies by the door in the 21' may not needs this. But, I don't like carrying my tug keys while camping. And, I need a spot to put my small LED flashlight. That kinda stuff. I think an over-the-door shelf/cubbie will be perfect in my 5er. All modding suggestions welcome, from color to type of "wood."

My 21 will definitely get one, and Widget Works will have a new product!

I don't think so. Isn't the flip up counter top extension standard on the 19?

Exactly what I was thinking. My wife uses that counter extension quite a bit.

The flip up table in our 19' would not allow a storage rack at that location, unless possibly if it was at floor level?

The cubbies in the 21 is perfect for wallet, flashlight, keys, etc. Also the curtain covers the cubbies so people can;t see your goodies. One of my favorite things we got extra!
