Owners of 21's- curtain around bed?

My husband is a light sleeper and I would like to stay up reading. Has anyone hung a blackout curtain around the end of the bed?
How did you attach it?
Is the open space at the end of the bed inside or outside the curtain?

Anything that you would change?

We are working our way through our build sheet with the help of this forum. Thanks for the generosity in sharing your experiences!

An approach I have used in other RVs is to run a spring-loaded (shower) curtain rod (which is often called a "tension" rod, even though it is used in compression, not tension) between upper cabinets on each side of the trailer. Workability of this depends on the specific cabinet configuration in your floorplan, but in a 21' you might be able to do this at the end of the kitchen, which would include the bathroom and outside door along with the bed.

Example: EZ UP Adjustable Tension Rod 72" | Walmart.ca

Mountain gal, you might not need a curtain. If you had one of the LED reading lights installed on the driver's side of the dinette for late-night reading, there would be almost no light "leaking" to the bed area because it would be directional, and blocked by the fridge.

You can install/use a spring tension rod in the 21 across the space from the bath wall to the side upper cabinets, this would cover about 80% of the bed and give one plenty of darkness at night.

We used a screw adjustable shower curtain rod in our 19. I screwed the attach cups to the upper cabinets at the front edge of the bed. Ann made a denim curtain that can be pulled out to separate the bed area from the rest of the trailer. Most of the time it's tied back out if the way. Looks great and works fine when she wants to stay up late at the table. Don't see why it couldn't be adapted to a 21. I suspect the spring rods wouldn't be heavy enough.

Best benefit is to hang wet towels on the curtain rod when the weather outside doesn't cooperate.

Have him try the eye covers used on airplanes. Wifey needs dark to sleep and uses them in summer at home. Curtain will be a maintenance hassle. In the 21 if you read at the dinette end, the overhead cabinet light on the fridge side throws very little light toward the bed end.

I have the airplane sleep googles, and they are far more comfortable than I thought they would be. Haven't needed them yet, but I will take along RVing for sure.
