Paper Towel Rack and the 19 Footer
Curious if anyone has installed a paper towel rack on the 19-foot Escape. Where did you mount it or are you using a freestanding rack?

Re: Paper Towel Rack and the 19 Footer
I think I have seen them mounted horizontally on the range hood (magnetic I think) or vertically on the sliding door bulkhead. Seems like someone had one in or on one of the under sink doors, too.
Regards,
Matt

Re: Paper Towel Rack and the 19 Footer
I have a 17B--but we got a paper towel holder that goes over our door under the kitchen sink..So it is behind the door--out of the way (especially when travelling--yet easy enough to get to)
I think I got it at Home Outfitters...

Re: Paper Towel Rack and the 19 Footer
Hi: All...In the 5.0 there's enough room to stand a roll of p.t. in the bottom cupboard. It's the one under the sink that's not very deep due to the wheel well being behind it. We also keep hand sanitizer and other cleaning supplies in there. Then it's all behind a door, but ready to use!!! Alf

That's where we keep ours. We take it down & wedge it between the stove cover & the wall when in transit though. I don't recall where we got it though.

Re: Paper Towel Rack and the 19 Footer
Ah, a magnetic paper towel holder, now that's the ticket. Didn't know that such a neat product existed. This holder almost rivals Jim Bennett's sliding shelf. I did a search and there are several designs. Now to settle on one design and made an order. Thanks to all for your help. See you at the Osooyoos Rally

Re: Paper Towel Rack and the 19 Footer
Hi Rick and Laura,
We used a 1/2 inch piece of cherry as a base. Counter sank two 3/4 inch Lee Valley rare earth magnets, just proud of the cherry, then using spray adhesive, attached a piece of that rubber shelf liner to make the magnets and shelf liner flush. You can now add any towel holder you like using screws that are less than 1/2 inch. The magnets are very strong, the shelf liner keeps it from moving around on the range hood and you can pull it off if you wish, but it never falls down even on the worst roads.

Re: Paper Towel Rack and the 19 Footer
I have a 19, and I mounted a paper towel holder vertically by the window on the door's left side bulkhead under the cabinet. Works great there -- close, but completely out of the way.

Most stainless is magnetic.

Re: Paper Towel Rack and the 19 Footer
Hi: Yukon Escape... The better quality S/S is non magnetic. We have it as a backsplash surrounding the stove/sink. Nothing magnetic will stick to it!!! Reace doesn't like installing it either.
When I installed a MaxxFan in our former Boler I wanted to replace all the exterior mounting screws with S/S. The gal at Facca Fasteners tested them with a magnet and said "they already are S/S". Alf

Re: Paper Towel Rack and the 19 Footer
Will have to speak with my local tin basher.
That is a very nice back splash, I have been thinking about something like that as I think the stove may be a bit close to the wall.
Combination back splash and heat shield.
I would guess that is why magnets do not stick to my legs.

Re: Paper Towel Rack and the 19 Footer
In our 17B we use an inexpensive nickel plated. spring loaded holder (Cdn Tire, Dollar Store, etc.)that has been fastened underneat the top cupboard above the sink. Because it's spring loaded you can travel with PT in place and still find it there when you stop....as opposed to it unrolled into the sink. Works great.
