Planned modifications for my 19'

Now that Quahog is home, I have started a list of some planned modifications. First up is a EMS by Progressive Industries installation, thanks to Harold for his previous post. 2nd is a fix for the propane cover that just sits there. I'm installing a cedar lining in the closet before my shelves and will do a red oak Pergo floating floor before summer ends. Rain gutters over the front door and the emergency window will help with raining days. Maybe a couple of LED lights in storage and closet. There is also the led for the refer. This will keep me busy and out of the bars.

What's the problem with the propane tank cover that needs fixing?

One point on the refrigerator light - I installed one with a magnetic switch, and Dometic called it a modification that cancels my warranty. I had to have the thermostat replace & it cost me $350.00. I'll try to get reimbursed from them when I get home since there is no connection between the light & the workings of the refrigerator, but that was the result of a repair by Gibs RV in Coos Bay, OR.

It is crazy how hard it is to get proper service when it comes to warranty on items, lots of places make it so difficult to get things covered that most of us just give up and pay or do it ourselves. I am not just refering to rv stuff but things in general. Lots of places try to find any silly little loop hole to get out of doing a repair under warranty.

At the risk of sounding ignorant (like this would be a first) what is an EMS? I'm guessing something to do with the mangement of the electrical system?

There is no attachment to the trailer on the 19', it just sits there. I have seen these on the highway. A simple bungee strap across the bottom & 2 small holes and it will never leave your unit. Also a small round circular hole in the middle will allow one to view the auto-switchover propane selector. Pictures to be forthcoming.

Yes, it protects your trailer's electrical system from over/under voltage situations where harm to your a/c can occur. It also protects from improper wired outlets and power surges/spikes all which can harm your trailer's electronic systems. Regarding the propane tank cover, when figuring out a way to hold it down, you should also come up with a method of protecting the places where it contacts the frame. On our 2011 19, there is already rust forming where the tank cover has rubbed the paint off the frame. I plan on cutting up an old bicycle inner tube and placing pieces between the frame and the cover then putting one of those industrial strength black rubber bungie straps over the tank to hold it down. The strap will discolor the plastic so a piece of cloth should be placed between it and the tank. Or, you could use one of those bungies the climbers use that already has a cloth covering.

good idea on the rubber along the bottom edges, but I was going to bungee from the bottom across end to end, then no need for the rag. drill 2 holes on outside edge bottom for the hooks. Also drill an "observation" hole in top front to observe the propane switchover location

That works too but I'd be careful of drilling holes in that cover. The plastic is not that sturdy and, over time, with the vibration during traveling, it could enlarge those holes and cause cracking. As for putting in an observation hole, I don't fiind it inconvenient to unscrew the two lock nuts and have a look. A hole in the top could let in more water and gunk.

After bringing our 19 home the first thing I did was secure the propane cover on. I'm amazed it was still there after the 100km drive!!!
I used two strips of very coarse foam that I had left over from a skid plate I bought for my KTM but didn't use. I used 3M spray 90 (I think) contact cement to secure the pieces to the inside of the cover at the point closest to the bottles. I cut a matching sized slot in a piece of cereal box to prevent overspray. The result is amazingly solid with no movement back and forth yet it still allows easy removal when it's time to fill up the tanks. I think this is a better solution than using bungee cords.

We cannot open our front box without moving the propane cover forward because the cover is firmly planted against the box. We don't think our cover can go anywhere. Maybe it is all of that stuff we have in the box.

Installed a battery LED motion light between the screen and door for those night time dog walks. Fits perfectly and illuminates the step. On other side between screen and door is a hoof for the dog leash.

Added a wall sconce (led) on the bath wall for some ambiance. Finally installed my Progressive EMS system, everything seems to be working now.
