I heard he was going to cut 48 inches out of the middle so it would be easier to fit into campsites.

The dinette in the 21' is only 49" deep. Putting the bed there would make it only a 3/4, not even a double (although plenty long, 86"). Making that space bigger would require moving the refrigerator, that's pretty major surgery. Small trailers are all about compromise. I like the balance ETI has accomplished in this model. The 5.0 TA is how they have chosen to provide a queen bed. Another compromise ...

ETI did ask for comments at one time concerning a rear bed model:
http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f2...-bed-1685.html
I'm wondering if at some point they will build one, or offer it to be built. He mentioned it would take a different set of fiberglass molds...

Just received a pleasant surprise in the mail. Earlier this year I showed my Escape to a prospective owner and forum member here, known as Seamstress. She has not made up her mind as to which Escape she wants- 19 or 21 or 5th. But as her name implies, she is a seamstress and she sent me a little present for BlackJack- a custom hotplate- it is too pretty so I'm hanging it up someplace. Thanks again, Seamstress...

Who knows, in a few years after I retire, and review my vehicles too.

I was thinking that there was little compromise with the 5.0T, but then realized I would have to give up my SUV. Life is all about compromises, eh?

The counter and storage space is a lot more than what these 8x16" open up. It is just a better and more efficient layout, IMHO. It is nice being able to sit on the bed corner and put your shoes on, something the 19' did not allow one to do.
|
Jim, even with the slide over table in your 19's dinette you weren't able to sit and put your shoes on comfortably on the passenger side of the front bench?
Anyone else with a 19 with standard front dinette have problems with enough elbow room to put their shoes on easily?

We have never had an issue with our 19'. Lots of folk do fine with much less space too.
