Plastidip

I'm thinking of using this product Plastidip, to replace the kinda goofy vinyl protectors on the front of the 19.

Plasti Dip 11 oz. White General Purpose Rubber Coating Spray-11207-6 - The Home Depot

One of the project Scamps at Scamp Camp SW did the entire bottom half of the Scamp in this product. It is a rubberized spray on coating, but the beauty of it is it simply peels off if you no longer want it. Comes in all kind of colors/finishes and can be sprayed to any depth. Even though you can peel it off fairly easy, it doesn't separate in use. She mentioned she got onto it as it is used quit a bit in car racing.

I hope to have it done for Quartzsite so those coming can weigh in. If I don't like it I'll peel it off.

Anyone got any experience with this product?

I've sprayed this on the GPS antenna (to match the white roof) and it stayed for around 8-9 years still looking pretty good.. never tried to peel it off tho.

The dipping kind works a little different when applying but stood up pretty well too.

My daughter in law's red and black ski boots no longer match her pink outfit and skis so my son painted over the red with white Plasti Dip. A few tiny dings where she made contact with a ski but it has held up pretty well. My son just painted over the dings.
Now I am thinking of trying it as a rock guard on the front of a 5.0 TA, and possibly painting the outside of the big escape hatch vent. It seems like an intriguing product and has been around for a long time.
It is not available in some states, although Amazon sells it.

Huh, interesting. Love some of those colors!

How do you folks plan to apply it? A bazillion spray cans? Or apply it from the gallon container with a sprayer?

Take photos of before and after!

Plasti DIP

In Iowa we would get a few 55 gallon barrels of plastidip and fill an above ground pool. Then put some straps on the Escape and lift it with a John Deere track type excavator and dip the trailer, let the excess drip back into the pool and
you are good go.

Sounds very entertaining. How much are tickets to attend?

I was quoted $150 CAD to do the 3M Protection on the front edges of my 5.0TA. This stuff is designed for rock chips, so will be what I am doing this spring.

Leading maybe? I would do from the frame just around the corner, and just underneath up about 2-3'.

FYI, one of the early uses for the 3M protective tape was on the leading edges of helicopter blades in the Viet Nam war to ward off rock and plant contact damages.
