Question

My only real problem with the existing factory step is the rise from step to trailer could be raised about 2".

The age-old dilemma: no fun when nature’s infirmities and their subsequent restrictions creep into daily life. Personal freedom gets attacked, or worse, ravaged. Bones, muscles, joints, organs we once took for granted now take us down a rocky road. Now or eventually that unwelcome stress awaits most of us. It’s a daily trip filled with muddy ruts only the lucky few escape. Testy, grouchy, sometimes my fuse is short. Then I take my meds. Fortunately, like Mickey and Goofy, we each can find ways to cope.

Also, I go outside to the yard, climb in and lie down on my nice Escape trailer bed. My dog sees that and jumps in beside me. We don't think about meds, we think about mods, things we will do or have done for diversion or to make things easier. All is right again.

Or there's the short version.

Yes, there is a difference between older and younger that can be seen here many times when people do not know that someone else cannot manage this or that.

There are non-answers many times, especially when something has never been done. In that case and many others though, people may answer with general information. I may not answer an OP's question only, or at all, because most people on this forum do not post, but read for the information. Many are newbies. I try to give information for newbies even when I know that the OP is not. Others besides the OP can use the points that are being made as to the question.

If someone does a power step, maybe he can give us the details and we will all be putting them in. Or at least you modding folks.

Few threads strictly stay on task, and many go way off track. Even so, many "off topic" posts provide valuable information and/or statements of experience pertinent to the question at had. If one is not making their first trip to the public forum "rodeo,"
that should be obvious. And starting a thread which almost invariably will provoke responses that do not specifically address the question posed is no reason to "go off in a huff." I do not believe the reaction of the OP looking for information on a powered step was warranted. I actually perceived it as being somewhat childish. Thankfully, the majority of members here behave like adults. While I personally found the concept of powered steps on an Escape a bit extreme, I did not respond because I had nothing constructive to say. It is, however, my opinion that if someone is so infirmed that bending over to deploy the step is too physically demanding, then that someone would be better off with a self-leveling motor home which comes from the manufacturer with automatic steps or perhaps should forget about RVing. Despite claims otherwise, there are some trailer related activities that would be difficult to automate or cost prohibitive to do so.

So then Carl, a tasty whiskey later in the evening after a meal with a side of yummy poutine?

Hehe, Pat, you never know. Hope you see one eventually at a great price and can get it. Then you will have to cross the country to show it to everybody!

I would like an electric jack on the 21'. Could have used it especially when 100F. Had to go in and wait after not getting level! As for the stabilizers, some use power for those, I know, on their Escapes. They are not nearly as much trouble as the crank can be.

For sure if I had the 21 think the electric jack in front would be great . Not too much money and shouldn't be hard to install . Pat

Jim. Gotta love your sense of humor and our shared fondness for good whiskey. But yummy poutine? To me, that would be an oxymoron like military intelligence or honest politician!

Now, can we get back to the discussion at hand: the pros and cons of utilizing a modified VW beetle as a tow vehicle for the 5.0TA.

Carl, I refuse to give up on the idea that some day you might develop enough class to realize that a properly made poutine is in fact scrumpdillyicious.
