Argh! not another should I have a range hood question. Seriously, this should be a stickie. The same question keeps coming up and the same people keep giving the same answers.

Ron in BC; have one in my house, have one in my 19. Cook inside mostly. Faced with the choice of having to clean my grease filter in the range hood or strip down the Maxfan and clean it I'll take the range hood filter.

As far as deleting it so the space looks less cluttered, well my bathroom would look less cluttered if I deleted the toilet.

So there you have it. If you suspect you'll be creating a lot of steam or grease, with the stove, get the hood. If you have no idea if you need it, get the hood. It doesn't hurt anything by being there, as long as you don't run into it, and gives you a place for magnets.

Totally agree with this one: we did the same, asked tons of questions when working on our build sheet. It's a long term investment that you don't want to go wrong and regret later.
Advice: imagine yourself camping, where you prefer to cook, what you prefer to eat, do you like spending (cooking)time outside or inside? Where are you planning on going camping and what are the temperatures/weather there?
It all depends what kind of camper you are. Once you figure Your style of camping out, it answers most of the questions of the build sheet for you.
Good luck with everything! And don't hesitate to ask! There are lots of helpful people on this forum!

Looking at your photo I know that it would be no place for me to be. I have a very serious allergy and cannot be anywhere around a pick axe or post hole digger. Dirt is fine as long as I am on top.

We have yet to replace the outside flap which broke off and wish we could use the stove hood. We also use it to remove the steam from items from the microwave.

Adding something is one thing; removing standard items is another. They are there for good reason and others expect them on re-sale. You can make your trailer your own all you want but there may be prospective buyers who expect the standard items.

Ah, but only if you don't get stainless.

Don't have it, don't miss it. We try to cook meat outside. Ron, I don't think that eliminating the hood is quite the same as eliminating the toilet . This question does seem to come up a lot.

Did that one, too, and don't miss it.

I know some folks put a lot of value on the re-sale aspect, but I don't think I've every seen any used Escape last very long on the market. Hours, days, weeks? What's the difference. There's a lid for every pot.

Make the trailer match your camping style.

Yeah, I don't think resale is any consideration in this case. If they absolutely need a range hood and the trailer doesn't have it, the next buyer in line won't mind a bit.

We have it because we like exhausting cooking fumes and steam directly out, and because we like the way it looks. That's it.

And the other reason is that you may realize later that you needed that feature yourself, or did not know all of the uses and now need one of them.

There have been some Escapes up for many months but the primary reasons were probably lack of insulation and/or A/C.

Range Hood and stove cover cost $150. Where will you put your dishes to dry if you don't have the stove cover?
Amortized over 20 years, that's $7.50 a year, or, two lattes.
If the range hood was in the middle of the aisle, I'd be concerned about sight-lines.
And, where do the fridge magnets go? Not on the fridge.

And, near as I can tell, it would not be difficult to add a venting stove fan after the fact. Cut a hole in the fiberglass ( which is what I think Escape does) and wire it in using the light fixture wiring.

True. All window, vent, and hatch openings are cut out; they are not created in the moulding process.

Our 19' hood held magnets but our 21' in stainless steel does not.
