Range Hood LED?

Hi, all!

With all the discussion about LEDs, I'm wondering if anyone has replaced the range hood incandescent bulb with an LED. Anyone out there? If so, what did you get and where did you get it?

We changed out our range hood light with this one I got from Reace
at Escape Trailers and it works great, even brighter then stock.

Re: Range Hood LED?

I replaced mine with an inexpensive ($2.99) 36 SMD panel from China. The eBay seller is no longer selling, but there are many others - check out Warm White Light Panel, for example.

They are cheap enough that if they fail just replace them like you would do with an incandescent lamp (although mine is still going after a year).

Re: Range Hood LED?

I used the model wled-whp10 from www.superbrightleds.com, this unit will work in all Escape fixtures except the porch light. The range hood did require some double stick tape, not necessary in the other fixtures.
I like how the unit directs all light in one direction, versus the bulb shaped units.

I am not sure if SMD's like these units use are any better than LED's that Reace uses.

Re: Range Hood LED?

I think I must have used my range hood light twice in the past four years.
Turned the fan on once.
Remembered to open the vent

Re: Range Hood LED?

I just replaced mine with this:

Not quite as bright as the original but it is OK.

I agree! I haven't even placed my order yet but I've been reading every post on every thread on this forum and I've already learned an incredable amount. Probably already forgot about as much, too.....but I'll remember when the time comes (or I'll know where to go to find the info).

Thank you, everybody!

cut a piece of clear yellow film, from Michaels or any craft store, the shape of the lens cap then replace cap for a softer hue. Those LEDs can come across like an arc-welder. the LEDs don't give off any heat so there is little worry.

Another material is theatrical color media. Brands include Rosco Labs & Lee Color Filters. No problem with heat - it is designed to go in front of 1000w lighting instruments so you can even use it in incandescent fixtures. It is available in hundreds of colors, including frosts, which can be used to soften the light as well as adjust the color. There are even colored frosts. It comes in 20" X 22" sheets for around $8.00 per sheet from most theatrical suppliers.
