Reversing the sink and the stove
I got the idea to reverse the sink and the stove on the 19 from someone on this forum last year sometime and that is on our build sheet. I've been searching for the original post but can't find it -- I wonder if anyone who has done this has pictures of it.

Ours is reversed, but we had no choice with the flush-mount one piece until we used. Maybe it is because we are used to it, but I much prefer the stove away from the bed in the 19.

We reversed cooktop / sink and omitted the range hood. We didn't want to turn to cooktop sideways. With the cooktop by the door it is very handy as we tend to be outside grilling etc.
don't know why my picutres always post upside down........if you enlarge it, it is right side up.

Thanks for the photos. Jim was that the standard sink and stove when you bought the trailer? I was pretty sure I wanted to be close to the door if I cook inside and the picture confirms it. I was able to turn the picture right side up. And Dave it looks like you didn't get the stove cover but use a cutting board over the cooktop. That's what I'm going to do. I thought this was a good idea, but I've had too much time to second guess myself!

Advantage of the stove cover is that it serves as a back splash when open. We use Eco Friendly Cutting Boards Made in the USA by Epicurean Cutting Surfaces which are light weight ( easy to move in and out of the trailer ) and thin for easy storage.
Things to consider are where does the cutting board go when you are using the stove and is it easy to clean?

Good question. I was waffling but then I saw that the cover for the two burner stove had sides and I don't want that.

I doubt we will ever do much more than heat something on the cooktop. Have found the cutting board to be a very solid surface. We also use epicurean cutting boards and they are great! We set the cutting board right by the sink, and can set a hot pan on it without damaging the Formica. Seems to work for us. We tend to use it more as a surface than a cutting board. It is bamboo and washes up well.

Very nice layout!
The stove next to the bed was Norma's biggest objection to the 19.

We only heat water inside the trailer and we've only done that twice. I prefer to keep cooking smells out of the trailer. We percolated coffee inside once using our (Escape)1500w inverter and it dropped our two group 27 batteries to 40%. The solar panel (Escape) couldn't really charge them up due to overcast weather and shady campsite. We now have a Coleman percolator coffee unit we use on our 2 burner Coleman stove. Makes 10 cups of great coffee and we keep our batteries charged.

We like the layout. Think cpaharley2008 is the brainchild behind that change.
Ruth, got the cutting board from bed bath and beyond.
Jmac, I make cappuccino with a1000watt inverter and can 2 days from the 2-6 volt batteries, the machine is 800 watts. That's in the summer with little other usage. Had to run the furnace thru the night last weekend and only got a day and no solar gain from my panel. Life can be tough!

Not sure reverse is correct, because I'm not sure what stock is anymore, it seems now that normal is the way you order it. I put my stove near the door to keep smells and splatters away from the bed. It is also closer to the door and overhead fan for ventilation, thus I eliminated the vent hood. I had the 3 burner ss stove but in hindsight the 2 burner turned sideways would have been adequate, put the small burner towards the front since it is used the most.

Thanks for the pictures Dave! I like the way that looks, and I have never been big on the range hood.
Guess that is another thing to put on the build sheet!

It was the standard one he was putting into the Trilliums he was building for a short while at the time I ordered. I had been looking at a couple others, but they were from out of the country and did not have CSA approval, so he could not install them. We really like this unit. Closed it is just about flush with the counter, and you can have either the stove or sink side open or closed. The sink is small, which at first we balked at, but in hind sight is a really good thing as we are boondocking most of the time, and like to save on our resources. We save on hot water, and holding tank capacity, both of which a smaller sink helps with.
Not sure, but I bet Reace could get one still. If not, they are readily available.

Hi ,
For those of you who have put the stove by the door, is the folding countertop extension by the door still useful? I'm wondering if heat/steam/ proximity/etc. from the stovetop makes the countertop extension less practical? thanks. j

Actually I removed my shield, freed up some counter space.

It definitely is. My wife makes use of it all the time. It is a good place to set something that needs to go outside.

We had that counter extension in our airstream and I found it to be indispensible -- I could put things on it from the steps without having to come into the trailer -- made clearing up a lot easier as well as passing things out.
