Turpentine doesn't exactly lend itself to sexy packaging and wild claims like a lot of other products. It's just a good, basic product. No ones going to feature it on an end-cap display with special Labor Day pricing!

Hey cruzer, maybe turpentine ought to market itself like St. Pauli Girl beer??

St. Pauli Girl poster collection on eBay!

Maybe if it was only produced by one manufacturer...

If I was going to market turpentine I'd first start with an education program to teach people what it is. Our schools ought to have programs on practical products that are still available at much lower costs than some of the slick packaging garbage that does not work as well as what grandma used in the 20s. Fells Naptha soap. Denver Mud wound dressing. 3 in 1 oil, linseed oil wood finish, etc. For a commercial for turps as my Dad called it, I'd get some down home boogie music out of the Texas and Louisiana turpentine camps played by the great Pine Top Smith in the Barrel Houses along the road. Ah but I digress......

Finally (and reluctantly) drilled the holes in my 21 for the ETI mounting brackets. I was surprised the instructions didn't include using the sealant supplied UNDER the brackets while bolting them down to the roof. The "goober everything" method was amusing. I also used the sealant on the threads of the screws that penetrated the solar panel edges; figured it was not quite as good as Loctite, but free............

It is definitely a 2 person job, were you able to use the washer? The bolts were too short, in my opinion....but when you tighten that lag into the panel it really squishes the goop out.

No problem using the washers, the bolts I received have a 1 inch threaded length. I cut a 2x4 to size to use as a jack under the bolts in the overhead cabinets to ram the bolt fully against the bottom side of the roof and compress the headliner so I could thread the nuts on from topside.

Just did mine too. I put sealant under as well. You do have to be careful with the self tappers. Had the clutch set too high and stripped the first one.

I did the self taps just to get it set up for a trip. Already have SS bolts and lock nuts to replace them later.

I got my addiction to stainless steel with our truck camper.
Nothing like replacing 46 rusting screws with stainless screws, around just one window.
I still only use stainless after I throw away the stuff that comes with everything I buy.

Stainless, the only way to go. It's really not that much more expensive considering that as time goes by it's not going to be leaving rust streaks down the side of your trailer.

I like stainless, too.
Just don't replace supplied hardware with stainless without checking strength grade. I'm sure that's not an issue with the solar panel hardware, but typical stainless steel bolts are not as strong as some of the fasteners you'll find in a car (or aircraft, getting even further from trailers...).
