SeeLevel II Install?

Hey boys and girls it's time for another install. I'm going to try the model SeeLevel 709-HP3W. I chose this one because it has a switch for the water heater and I think is the only current SeeLevel model with this switch. It doesn't have a DSI FLT light but I can see no reason why a separate red two wire 12v led wouldn't work. This model also has an LPG indication and I'll probably just tape or paint over the "LPG" switch. I suspect this hasn't been done to many Escapes, if any, because it seems a lot of you have the insulated tanks and that would make sensor installation a lot more difficult. But, If someone has done this install I would certainly appreciate any guidance.

Well this is about two years later and I'm about ready to take on the same project. If you learned any hard lessons along the way I'd love to learn. FYI I have spray foam but that just adds a few hours of on my back bliss. I ordered the same kit for a 21C with the short sensors.

Well, I'm real glad I did it. Instead of "Empty, 1/3, 2/3, full; I'm getting readings in four percent increments. Plus the battery voltage reading is more accurate. I had to drill one hole to run the sensor wire for the black tank. On the 5.0 TA the black tank takes a tall sensor. I got some undercoating spray and covered the exposed sensors on the gray and fresh tanks. It will be a challenge to figure out wiring but if an old Tennessee redneck can do it anyone can. Good luck

I'm beginning my own electrical project: Lithium/Solar. Have accumulated all the required goodies and now have to figure out how to make them work. If all goes to plan (what plan?) I'll wind up with 210 watts of solar feeding two 100 amp Battleborns. Did a Moab trip last fall and that gave me an idea of what I needed to become more boondock capable. This fall plan to spend about a month in the Bears Ears Cedar Mesa area stumbling around old Anasazi ruins. There are some good primitive camping sites in that area and I hope to be prepared to camp for extended period with the necessary creature comforts.

Great idea. That's why I'm upgrading the tank monitors. When boondocking for extended time it's important to know status. When you're upgrading electrical I highly recommend a shunt based power monitor for same reason.

Installed a shunt based battery monitor last year. Very important addition.

Made it up your way back in 2008 via the ALCAN. Did the Cassiars on the return. I was living in Montana then so it was about 4000 less miles than if I tried to do it now plus I'm long in the tooth and such adventures are behind me.

I meet so many people who say they want to see Alaska "some day". A few of the smart ones get it done .

The really smart ones spend much of the trip in British Columbia and Alberta on their way to Alaska.

The other smart ones take the boat, or the bus.

Driven it many times, ferried many times, lived in AK 25 years, will drive and ferry there again. Lots of amazing country everywhere I’ve been. It’s why I’m buying another trailer. I splurged for the SEE-Level, certainly not essential, but I expect it will be nice.

The sensors in my 2010 17B are garbage, and I do not know if the standard ones on new trailers are any better (21NE wait list). Does the SeeLevel maintain its accuracy, or does it deteriorate over time like the old ones?

The SeeLevel folks state that in older RVs with 1/4 to 1/2 inch buildup in the tank accuracy will be affected. I'll try to attach a review that might help answer your question:

Hope this helps jn

How/where did you get access to the 5.0 TA black water tank?

In the propane tank compartment right side. You can see a plywood panel secured with screws. Just remove that panel. Once you remove that panel you can see the black tank and it's easily accessed.
