space saver / screwing

I finally did it. I drilled two holes and screwed this magnetic knife holder next to the stove.
I didn't do anything until I had it in position with double-sided tape and had had it approved by the Old Bag. Got some 1" particle board screws ( deeper threads ) that perhaps went into the wall about 1/4" after passing through the knife holder. I pre-drilled.
It was Keath's idea to use a magnetic knife holder and he had mounted one from Ikea in his 19', so I spent two hours trying to find my way to the exit at Ikea with one like his, except it wasn't. His was 14" and the one I got was 21" and the location and mounting wall are different in the 19'.
It was about that time that the Old Bag mentioned that they sold magnetic knife holders at the store she worked at. That's about three weeks after I first mentioned doing it and had gotten no response.
This one is 14" and cost about $15. It comes from Danesco International Inc.
It opens up some drawer space and keeps the knives handy. You never know when you might need a knife.

Re: space saver / screwing

How brave of you. I take it the screws did not go through to the shower wall. I wonder how much space there is between those walls and if it is just space or some insulation stuff.
Looks nice and handy too.
