I did put a couple layers of foam around the body of the lock because the lock bounces around during travel and removes the paint off the tank leading to rust. Anyone with a 9/16 wrench can defeat the system , so the lock only slows thieves down a little.
Which is why we went with the Batteryshackle locking device.
It will need a cutting device to remove so hopefully will encourage Mr. propane thief to move on.

Is the 9/16 nut at bottom end of the threaded rod? If it is the battery shackle wouldn't be any better.

Looks like I need to break the welder out for a quick fix.
Took it all apart to work on tomorrow and I see another problem that I will fix at the same time. After I weld or braze the bottom nut and reinsert it into the rack I will run a nut down to the bottom to lock the rod in. Otherwise someone could go underneath and turn the nut and the rod could unthread from the top lock. So this way I'm back to them needing a cutting device hopefully

Batteryshackle locking device comes with two nuts you thread on the top, keeps the threaded rod from coming out the top. See the capped top in the photo? No welder needed
