I just received my Springfield pedestal and tested it out of the box. It expanded really easily and looks great. However I found it took quite a bit of strength to collapse it. Not a problem, just more than I expected. I'm wondering if that will get more difficult/awkward once the pedestal is installed with the table top? And then after locking I lifted it by the top to put back in the box and it expanded a bit as a result. Is there a trick to any of this?

No trick, it's just that there's no table top attached to it. With the weight of the table, it works fine -- collapsing it takes less force when you're adding the weight of the table. as for it expanding a bit when lifting it from the top, you can adjust the locking mechanisms so that it locks "tighter", but I didn't fool with it since it works ok as is.

Also, when the table is on, make sure you are pushing down directly over the pedestal. Off to one side greatly increases the effort required with mine.

Many of you have discussed this table option with the springfield pedestal. I wanted to let you know that Overton's has a 20% off sale and free shipping through Halloween.
Yes. Easy. If you use the two-way ETI slide, they center it for you. If you use the Dicor 4-way slide, it drops right down to the bed supports.

I'm trying to buy a Dicor pedestal and 4-way slide. It seems like you used the Springfield with the Dicor slide?
Has anyone ordered both Dicor products from a source other than Dicor- they say they are backordered(they import it from Italy) and am looking for some in stock somewhere.
Sorry. I missed this question. The table base is narrower than the Helm pedestal so I added a couple of 2x4 rails to raise the table and clear the locks. At some point they will get some paint.
What you see here in the top photo is the Dicor 4 way slide on a Dicor pedestal. The one below is Captmath's Springfield pedestal he referred to as a Helm-who is the distributor he ordered from. Anyway the reason it is blocked up is because the Springfield top is 12 x 12", whereas the Dicor 4-way slide is for a 6.5 X 8" top. I plan to cut down the Springfield top- only one side needs to be narrowed- to allow a fit. The Dicor slide only adds 1/4" to height of pedestal when mounted as shown in the top photo- which is pretty unique. One last dimension: the Dicor slide top is 22 X 26". Thanks again to Jim B. for sharing this info
If using blocks like that, even with the Springfield pedestal, you would not be able to drop it to bed height, if the seats were at the standard 18". You could without the raised floor in the 21 and 5.0TA though.

Ross and I were going back and forth via email on two options for pedestals. This stemmed from my concern with the Dicor pedestal being able to work as a bed.
To recap what I had reported before, though I do think I may have had my heights wrong. My issue with the Dicor pedestal, and one I did not discover until after I received it, is that it is not infinitely adjustable, instead has 3 detents. Otherwise, it is a very well made, good looking pedestal, and I really like the lever action. The detents (including the 1/4" for the Dicor 4-way slide) taken to what would be the underside of the table top, are 14 3/4", 20 7/8", and 28 1/8".
If you were to raise the floor in the dinette so the seats were at a comfortable standard 18" height, the underside of the 4" cushions would be 14". This 14" height needs to be where the top of the table sits to make it a bed. This will not work with the Dicor pedestal, which is too high already, let alone adding the thickness of the table top.
Otherwise the Dicor is fine at the other heights, with the table top being close to the standard 30".
With the Springfield at 12 3/4" height, plus 1/4" for the Dicor 4-way slide, leaves you a full 1" of thickness for the table top. PLUS, you have the capability of adjusting the pedestal height to whatever you need, unlike the Dicor which would have to be at a precise height to match the lower detent.
Not sure just how I will proceed myself, but I imagine I will wait until I get my trailer before making any definitive plans. I do know though that the Dicor 4-way slide looks like it will be a great addition to any pedestal.

Oh, and Ross, thanks a lot for showing everyone my cluttered storage room, filled with all things trailering, just waiting to outfit the trailer when I get it.

How does the pedestal attach to the slide? Threaded holes in the top of the pedestal?
Yes. Easy to replicate with another pedestal.

Jim thanks for the info, much appreciated. Just order one (Springfield) from Overton today 269.99 with free shipping using code ( SUPER50 ). Will be ordering the 4 way soon, hope this helps anyone in the market for purchase.
I would like to get the dicor version. I assume that bringing it down to bed height will work in the standard 2014 21?
The biggest problem with the Dicor, is that it only stops at a set height of 14 1/2" alone, 14 3/4" with the 4-way slide, so if you table top is 3/4" the top of it would be 15 1/2". This height would have to match the height of the bench without cushions. I understand this height to be in the range of 17 1/2".
You could pull the pedestal apart, and drill new detents, but that would be a real pain, plus you could not make it stop any lower, just as an additional height above minimum.

If you want to convert your table to a bed it may not work with the lower detent fixed at 14 3/4 as the rails on the benches with stock floor are at around 18". It likely would want to go up to the next stop which at 20 7/8" would be too high.
