Stripper Pole
I believe the 21' is the first to have the kitchen support pole (aka stripper pole) between the cabinets at the front. It serves a purpose and I know it shouldn't be removed and left off. However, in an effort to make my 5er uniquely my own, I'm looking to change the pole to something else. THAT happens all the time in other brands of all molded towables, why not in an Escape
Can someone give me a measurement from the bottom of the top cabinet to the top of the Formica surface, please?
I won't do anything about it soon and know there's a very good chance there are no two trailers with the exact measurement. But, I want to start shopping around for what I desire.
BTW, the term stripper pole was first started over on the Oliver forum. I'm just repeating that because it helps me with SEARCH (that's my story and I'm sticking with it).
Thanks group!
I love Peter's and Lynn's solution in their Scamp 5er

Donna,
Since acquiring mine I have found it to be very helpful in exiting/entering the unit, I had to add a handle on my 19 but with the stripper pole in BlackJack I can just reach in and grab it. You may want to wait until you start using your new unit, a replacement may not be as sturdy or hand friendly. Here is the added one on the 19' at the door entrance:

You're right Jim about waiting. I'm just forward thinking Too, I'm betting some wires run through the pole for the plug at the front portion of the counter... for those that are getting that option... and I am.
But, it doesn't need to be a chrome pole to be useful.
I'm just asking if it needs to be X in length. And it's fun to look for stuff and plot and plan.

I'll measure mine when I go out there later today, no wires in mine though, but I may use it as a wire chase for some of my future mod's I'm contemplating.

Donna, when I get to meet you in your new trailer, will there be a show?

Donna, I measured my poll at 27 & 3\8. We also asked that the poll be replaced. We wanted to replace it with a narrow wall for use in hanging things like dishcloths but were told no. To be honest, I agree with Jim, it's been very convenient for entering and exiting the trailer. It's located In just the right place. Even my wife, who hated it at first, has come to like it.
Hope this helps, Tom

So the new 5.0 TA has some kind of pole between the floor and ceiling? Is that kind of like a fire pole, but used for getting down to the main floor from the loft? Or as hinted at in this thread, is it used for performing exotic dance shows in the doorway of your Escape, maybe as an alternative to other bear deterrents like pepper spray.?

Well, if nothing else the title of the thread is drawing readers. Like I said, I gave it that title for search purposes.
Whatever (if I do) change the pole out for, will be just as sturdy and useful as it comes from the factory. It will be just more "me." Maybe something in brushed stainless and scrolled or engraved... hummmm.

Another option is utilitarian, there are attachments available for round poles that attach with thumb screws and are easily movable up and down, for items like keys, iPhones, what nots. I have one on my ironing/laundry valet that is attached to one of the round supports, JAT.

Within a "bit" is just fine. I didn't want to look for stuff, really like something that's too short or too tall. I'm just noodling right now.

Jim - Did you attach with screws through the frame or with super-sticky glue/tape? And where did you find your handle ... looks like part of the build.

Here it is http://www.amazon.com/RV-Designer-Co...ords=rv+handle
I attached with screws thru the side wall and the bottom screw was long enough to dig into the side counter top with a small spacer. Top screw was not as long

Donna it is good you are taking your time before settling on a new stripper pole design for your Escape. So many options! I feel I must jump in here with a few helpful suggestions for you.

I captured a picture a very long time ago. Just like every vertical service is fair game for storage... so is this fairly minor area. I was kinda thinking of something similar to this...

What is that? A towel hanger? Where did you get it? It looks like it could be real handy in a trailer.

Ah. Very good Karen. Plus Frank Lloyd Wright, and my personal funky favorite on the left by ...unknown Colonial Mexican.
